Small Drill Presses

Looking at drill presses for drilling my thru-holes....looked at the Ryobi at Home Depot for $99.00 and the Craftsman at Sears for $120.00. Was not crazy about the quality of the construction of either one but I guess for $100.00 plus or minus $20.00 I guess they were not too bad. Anybody own these and if so, how do you like them? Does anyone recommend another brand? The Ryobi was a 10" model, I think the Craftsman was 8" model.

I know some of you will say, "use your lathe it will give you a better thru-hole and you save $100.00" but the lathe I have is the small grizzly and I am not sure if you can thru drill with it.

I recently bought the delta 10" drill press at lowes for 99.99 and it seems better constructed than the ryobi and the craftsman I havent throug drilled on it but it looks and feels good.

Yeah ML, thats the one. You like it alright? Thanks BSpice13, I am gonna check that one at Lowes out. I guess for $100.00 you can't expect too much!:smash:

I use my Grizzly 8690 lathe for drilling the thru-wire hole. You have a little over an inch of travel, so you hit both sides twice to get starter holes, then finish up with a long bit in a hand drill. Also have the 10" delta drill press. Decent drill.

These are the ones to get, better than anything available today.
These are the 1950's Craftsman King-Seeley drill presses.
I have 2 floor models and have had up to 3 a few times, cause I cant stop buying them :) About 350lbs each, easy to use and easy to fix.
This ones a benchtop, from 1951. 136lbs 4" travel 15" swing
A cute little guy, Id like him so hed hang with his big brothers in my shop

Hey Krisy that's sweet! If I had my camera unpacked I'd show you a pic of a 1950's router...ALL METAL...they don't build them like that anymore.
