Ever use fish attractant?

on your lures, plugs or bait?

Like Menhaden oil, Anise oil, Anchovie oil or any other commercial "fish attractant"?

did it work?

BigFish 03-25-2004 05:48 PM

Old Spice.:hihi: Does "chum" count as a fish attractant?

Spit........

bloocrab 03-25-2004 06:33 PM

I dunk mine in annisette before I leave the house.....I'm not sure if it attracts any fish.....but the rest of the bottle catches me all the time............................

BigFish 03-25-2004 06:35 PM

You dunk your "what" in Annisette????

bloocrab 03-25-2004 06:41 PM

...not to mention, it gets some of the rust off the head....if there's any left on there from the last time I pulled it out

BigFish 03-25-2004 07:36 PM

 Whooops!

Crafty Angler 03-26-2004 01:23 PM

Hey Gilly, the best part of drinking the anisette is eating the anise branch with the sugar on it -

It's the Pork-a-cheese version of da tequila worm...:laughs:

But you gotta watch for the soupas afterwards :yak5:

I tried this years ago and I know it sounds crazy but I think WD-40 works as good as anything else.

Ive had nights where scent made the difference of catching or not. Or catching 3-1 to the next guy. Its something I always carry in my bag.

That sounds interesting, what do you use for "scent"?

PNG 03-26-2004 02:18 PM

I carry scent everywhere I go, a strategically placed "Scent Bomb" opens up a whole new horizon not to mention elbow room

bloocrab 03-26-2004 02:20 PM

Chuck...:)

I have a MUCH better use for that sugar-coated anise branch...

Get your hands on some black-market shine, if your pork-a-cheese...you know what I'm referring to. Pour the shine in the empty annissette bottle with the plant inside, it makes it a little easier to swallow....Deeeelicious :D:D...:buds:

...back on-topic, I've heard from the freshwatta guys that scent is killer and a must have in your tackle box, but I've never heard anyone swear by it in saltwater. I don't and won't take up space in my plug bag with a bottle of fishpizzzz....;) IMO -

Fish Attractant

WD-40 works great because it is made from 98% Mineral Oil.
When I was working, I used to haul that stuff by the truckload.
Its made in Webster/Dudley Mass.

I bought a bottle of pogie juice from an old guy selling felt jig strips at the Woosta show - I use jigs a lot.

If it doesn't work, at least I can use it as an after-shave moisturizer :laughs:

Hey, to go off topic for a minute....

Sounds good, Gilly - I'll be doin' a shimarita around the house all nite.

Then me and Mrs Crafty can play one of our favorite games -she's a bored Newport socialite and I'm Manwel, the lusty Portuguese gardener....:humpty:

Eeee, Mary Sousa.....

I have had success using scent in freshwater but didnt produce any results in the salt

smelly jelly....dont let it sit in the sun and acidentally knock over the open jar though.....:yak: or get it on your hands for that matter

Swimmer 03-26-2004 10:18 PM

No my wife asked me not to.

macojoe 03-27-2004 10:03 AM

I saw that same old guy at a few different shows.
My budy bought some of the felt and the sent stuff. Not sure on what sent it was but it works ok for him.
I tryed some for fluke fishing when the bite was slow and I picked up a few fish with it.
I am going to test it a bit more this year. Hay it can't hurt to have one more thing in the box of tricks!!!!
