Winter flounder

The season starts on my b-day this year. I wanted to give it a shot. I know nothing about them. I have caught tons of fluke, but no winter flounder. Looking for some advice on bait , areas to find them, also what stages of tide and time of day are best, also if they are readily available from the shore.. They are mostly in tidal ponds and rivers , right?
Thanks

The best bait to use is sandworms. The incoming and outgoing high tide is the best time to fish for them, I do not think time of day matters tide is more important. You got it right think rivers that lead into estuaries. As far as ponds Point Judith is probably the best spot to fish for them but you need a boat.

Deckers are small single-shelled animals that can be found in large clusters on nearly anything solid on the sea floor. They scrape algae, are in the clam and oyster family, and are very common in Narragansett Bay.
