Backing Question

Greetings all,

I currently have an 8 wt LL Bean fly outfit. I HAD an extra spool spooled with intermediate but it has become lost :smash:

I just ordered some new line and backing and was wondering how much backing I should wind on? The line is 100 yards (i believe) and the backing is 200, maybe??

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

BOB, check your SPOOL recomendation, I don't know what reel it is, usualy w/ lines intermediate ----> you can put LESS on the spool.
shooting heads-----> a little MORE, each spoole is different, also depends on the backing 20lb---->more 30lb ------>less, also is the SPOOL AL or REG, best check w/ the reel co.
GOOD LUCK GOOD FISHIN:smash:

Worst case. Do it backwards. Put your line on, then the backing until the reel is "full". Then take it all off and put it all on starting with the backing....

Thanks, gang. I think I'll do as you say, Fish, I'm gonna call LLBean and see what they suggest. Not like I'll catch anything other than my neck but what the hay!!
