Lathes?

I'm looking to get a lathe soon and I was wondering what brand some of you guys may use or if there are any someone would recommend. Does anyone know where to get a used one? Thanks for all your help.

The guys on the forum will give you there expert opinion on the new lathes. You can try your local voctional tech schools for used ,as they replace them from time to time and you can get them cheap.
Have fun with what will be your next addiction.:D

try the want-ads. Whatever you do try to get a cast iron bed. The tube ones are good but not as versatile IMO.

I got a used Grizzly.......

for $50.00 bucks and I love it. It is a small model, tabletop. Go to Grizzly.com and buy a new one, they are like $150.00 new. Check the website out anyway.:D

EBay has lots of lathes too.

Know a lot of guys have mini's, but if you can find a good used one I would opt for a full sized lathe in case you ever want to expand what you are doing. I turn quite a few bowls and really appreciate having an old, heavy Delta with a 3/4 HP motor...... The 1/2 HP that was on it kept tripping out when I was sanding....
