Team Block Island 2004

Here is the "team list" for this October: :)

DZ - Dennis has alot of first hand knowledge about fishing Block Island, and is a valuable resource for all who would like to know the in's and out's about where and when to fish on Block!!!

I am very much looking forward to hearing more stories about the winter blitz that occured in the 80's!!!

Sandman

Sandman will be our "eel man" this weekend, and has also fished the Island quite a bit while growing up! I am also looking forward to hearing some of his stories about the Vineyard!

Slipknot

Slip is one who I have always wanted to fish with, and he will be our go to guy for Plugs during the weekend.

He will supply us with a colorful variety of his Needlefish creations!

I'll be helping out with this, and hope to become proficient in building some nice plugs.

GBOUTDOORS

Greg is one helluva brave guy who says that Surf caught Bass don't count!!! He intends to show us all how to catch Bass just about anywhere!...

(and I think that's why he chose Block Island to do it...)

Greg will never have a problem starting his own fishing charter later in life... but let's see how he does in the Surf!

Toonoc

Toonoc is going to be showing us his fishing prowess as well during the weekend...

Bill is another great angler who I have wanted to fish with, and I will enjoy the opportunity to do so in October!

KL Mulder

KL will spend the entire weekend convincing us that we need to Purchase a Toyota as a beach buggy if we are to be successful in catching Striped Bass.

I for one, intend to prove him as being correct! As I will be taking over a Toyota for transport during the weekend...

We will have to see if we can catch more Bass than Sandman who will be taking his vehicle which is not a Toyota...

It will be the "Toyota Challenge"...

Bliz

I will be helping Slip with Needlefish, and will work on learning to use the airbrush using equipment I have recently purchased from Thefishingfreak...

Though I'm sure that mine won't be as purdy as his!...

I have asked a master plug painter to mentor me though... and I am looking forward to seeing what comes of it!

I will also be working out the logistics for the trip to insure that we are prepared for all possible situations on the Island...

For those on the list...

Please send in your check for 125.00 in so that I can firm up the reservations for the house and get reservations confirmed for the Ferry...

Please know that although we are going to be fishing some great waters, there is no guarantee that we are going to catch Bass if the weather conditions aren't permitting...

So, pray for some nice weather!

I'm looking forward to this!...

For those who didn't make the list, You will be given first consideration when we do this again, (God willing...) for next year!...

I am kicking around ideas on something of a much grander scale, and will make details known if the ideas come to fruition for next year...

Bliz :)

Bliz 04-19-2004 08:32 AM

I'll keep em BOTH open with Greg!... :laughs:

TheSpecialist 04-19-2004 10:59 AM

Don looks like you got a great crew going over with you. Somehow I think Greg will pull through, and shine in the surf. Slipknot needles = , and you sure will learn alot from that master plug builder. It's looks like it will be a great trip.

Slipknot 04-19-2004 03:17 PM

Sandman,

Thanks for the article you sent in.

It was fantastic!

What makes it so interesting is that it is so engaging to the reader!

Having connected to this timeless fascination, I felt as though I was drawn into another place in time, and when I returned, I found myself to be in the same priveledged place having grown up in New England while experiencing the same exhilaration as those of long ago.

Wow! ... What an awesome read!

I really enjoyed it.

I felt as though I was there!

This would be a great article to bring along in October :D

Mr. Sandman 04-20-2004 07:54 AM

Glad you enjoyed it....That is the feeling I get when I fish the shores of CH and some of the other more remote places.

I have it scanned I could email it to others. I bought the original on ebay and keep it in a special acid free holder but I scanned it. It is 13 pages and have it zipped into 3, 3-4 meg parts. If anyone wants would like a copy they could PM me with a direct email address. (As far as copyright...the article was printed in 1879 by a company that has not been in business for like 100 years..I don't think it is a problem.)

This is the full article that was partially printed in OTW about fishing in the old days along the Elizabeth's during the bass-stand days.

Bliz 04-20-2004 07:59 AM

What an excellent booklet!

Bliz 04-20-2004 08:22 AM

Mr. Sandman 04-24-2004 06:22 PM

125 eels reserved for that weekend. I think that should hold us for 2 nights but I can get more if we have some heavy eelers. ( on avg 8 per man per night)

Bliz 04-24-2004 07:44 PM

Sounds Great! :btu:

We will also have Needlefish... :)

OX 04-25-2004 02:25 PM

Thankyou Mr Sandman. Sent email addy.

Bliz 04-28-2004 07:37 AM

Okay Guys!...

I need to get a consensus here...

What times are good for Sunday's return for the Block Island Ferry?

Do you want to fish until the early evening on Sunday?

or do you want an early afternoon departure?

Sandman,

You may want to firm up reservations for the October dates...

GoFish 04-28-2004 07:48 AM

Just a heads up. If you're bringing your sleds book your ferry reservations ASAP. Things are booking up very fast out here, right into the Fall.

Bliz 04-28-2004 08:02 AM

That's why I'm on it now GoFish! :btu:

GoFish 04-28-2004 08:10 AM

Go get 'em! Hopefully there will be as many keepahs as tourists out here when you get here!

Bliz 04-28-2004 08:11 AM

That would be nice. :)

Slipknot 04-28-2004 06:58 PM

Crafty Angler 04-29-2004 11:33 AM
