Not Looking Forward To My Root Canal Tomorrow Morning!

Not too much I hate more than the dentist!!!:crying: Got a bum tooth right in the front top...:tooth:...yeah, right about there! I have never had a root canal before and I generally do not get novacaine or anything when I get fillings because I have a bad reaction to novacaine and gas. Gonna have to have novacaine tomorrow though.......I am not looking forward to this!

Yes, BigFish is a BigBaby!:hidin:

Good luck Larry. I had one done on a front tooth a few years ago. Trust me , you want the novacaine. First shot numbs it for the second shot that has to pierce the roof of your mouth. That one hurts more that the root canal.

Take all the drugs they offer, and if they don't offer , then insist. Personally , I hate screaming like an 8 year old girl. Good luck. See what's left of ya on the beach. * What ! I have the Dentist tomorrow ,too? Nooooooo!

Larry Good Luck, you will be fine. Don't forget to put the tooth under your pillow for the Plug Fairy!!!

fishdump 04-27-2004 07:44 AM

I had a root canal done when I was 10. Got front teeth smashed in. Nerve in tooth died = Root canal time. Not all that bad. Pain is Temporary.

MountainBreeze 04-27-2004 08:17 AM

Well, at least it's not a Colonoscopy!

BigFish 04-27-2004 09:14 AM

Just back from the dentist........

It was not too bad! It is the novacaine that I hate....I hate the needle, always have hated needles (cept' needlefish) and that numb feeling I just can't stand it! You can't eat, you can't talk and dammit, I have not had my coffee yet and that is the worst! I can't wait to see how it feels after the novacaine wears off though!

Moosenuckle....it was a root canal to save the tooth so I ain't got a tooth to give the plug fairy.......so I guess I don't get any plugs!:crying: :hs: :(

Larry,
Did ya try to spit when you walked out of the office and dribble all over ya self, Cmon Fess up. Everyone does it.
Glad you made it thru ok. I broke 2 front teeth in half at 20, painful. Musta spent over 15K easily to save the roots over the last 23 years (2k just recently at the endodontist, they butterflied my gums like a shrimp to get at the roots thru the bone, that was fun. Thats why my dentist drives 2 Benz's.

Hey I got some large tail grom thingies on the way, Ill send you some.

BigFish 04-27-2004 06:33 PM

RAM Watchhill 04-27-2004 08:06 PM

I'm a Dentist and I do at I do at least 6 root canals a week. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER, NOT USING A LOCAL ANESTHETIC!!!! NOVOCAINE!!! I tell my patients that if they come in with a lot of PAIN , they will need a strong pain medication for after the local wears off. Other wise Motrin works well.

BigFish 04-27-2004 09:05 PM

Ram Watchhill.....the infection had not abcessed yet and after anti-biotic, was under control. Novocaine worked well and there was no pain at all. It is just the needle and the feeling of the novocaine I do not like. I have bad reactions to gas so that is not an option. But all went really well. I am just a Big Baby!:D
