Belly Weight/Sealer Question?
I have sealed the plugs....they are dry and the next step is to prime them......should I put the belly weight in, fill hole with wood filler and then prime or should I dab some sealer over the wood filler and let it dry before I prime?????
Thanks in advance.;) |
I don't seal my ayc, but I don't think that you would want to put sealer over putty or whatever you are using. putty it, let it dry and sand flush, then prime-if u are using bin primer, give it two LIGHT coats about a half hour apart, then sand smooth after another half hour or so. bin runs reeeeal easy so lite coats are the key

I started sealing my ayc again .. Moiture must absorb a little ... I have plug all drilled out for weight ,belly hook .. thru drilled..,, before doing anything .. Seal first..mix 6 minute epoxy and add weight ... let dry fill remaining gash with exterior use putty...let dry ,,sand clean ..Prime,, I use zinnser spray can..sand again ...another coat primer ...light sand ..now ready for paint ..

On the weight question, I seal, then insert the weight. Touch of epoxy in the hole, and on top of the weight. Sand the epoxy, then prime.

i drill the hole for the weight a hair smaller than the weight itself.then give it a few good raps with a small hammer.the lead is soft enough to mold itself snug into the hole.then fill in with 5 minute epoxy.i put enough on that when the epoxy is cured,it's alittle high.then take it down fairly smooth with a drum sanding disk and a dremil.then smooth it out flush with some light sand paper.i seal everything up after this point with boiled linseed oil.
