eye replacement

I am replcaing an eye that broke off the other day and was wondering how I get the old epoxy and threads off the rod. Before I pulled out the old file I wanted to check with you guys.

Some people just cut most off with a razor blade. I prefer to just cut the thread near the inside of the foot and unwind it. I think its a little more time consuming but a lot safer to avoid nicking the blank. When everything is peeled off , you can lightly sand with fine sandpapr to rmove any residue. Be carefull not to remove resin from the blank and expose the fibers

ditto---and Roger told me a while back that instead of sanding or scraping he uses a dremel tool with a nylon brush and it removes the epoxy from blank without damaging the finish on the blank.I havent had a need to try it myself yet but will if a need pops up.
