We have a new Striper Addict

Took my son out tonight to fish for stripers for his 1st time. He bagged 4 schoolies between 16-18 inches. He is now officially hooked.

Now he wants his 1st keeper. :D

TDF, a night to remember for both of you.:)
Congratulations to your son!:btu:

Thats great! Nothing like sharing some time on the water with your son. I hope my son (almost 5) keeps up his passion for fresh & saltwater fishing. It's nice when the two of us can fish, even if it's just for 30 minutes......

Slingah 05-12-2004 09:11 PM

that is nice TDF:D

Notaro 05-12-2004 09:36 PM

Cool, TDF, next time you bring him fishing, try slinging eel. He will be in for a ride! And don't feel bad if he outfishes you, too

RickBomba 05-12-2004 10:07 PM

Took me till 22 to catch my first schoolie over 20". Used to throw with the old man off Naps night after night...never gave up hope...The first one was on an ultralight with an old Mitchell that I lost the handle to during the fight...
Wow, I thought I caught Moby #^&#^&#^&#^&!!! I went fishing every day for the next consecutive 35 days...
These days I'm a little more mellow, Rappin Mikey, on the other hand, is another story.
Good news is that all the Bombardier crew is meeting up in CT for some crazy drizzle action tomorrow...Lookout World, them Bombas be back in town!!!

fishaholic18 05-12-2004 10:33 PM

I wish my kids were more into it. They have all gotten keepers though. I made sure of it. Maybe someday.

Notaro 05-12-2004 10:48 PM

fishaholic, i wish my friends and cousins are more into it, but they never caught a keeper.

Crafty Angler 05-13-2004 02:38 AM

Congrats to you and your son, Dad - you'll both remember it forever. :claps::btu::claps:

That's awesome.

I'm working on my stepson, but he has little to no patience for waiting for a fish to bite.

Van 05-13-2004 07:41 AM

From now on he will outfish you every time, thats what happened to me with my son.

Its all good though...:D

When I get older (and him), he can drive the boat to the fishing spots and I'll just fish,, while he anchors, rigs lines, baits hooks etc.....;) ;)

Very nice,

I got my Wife hooked on fishing. What a mistake, she out fishes me a lot!

She thinks I let her out fish me, so I agree with her.

Sad part is she realy is good!

My son is next on the list for getting addicted.

Nothing like fishing for good family time!

I recalled reading an article about spouse fishing on Sportfishing magazine. There is a part that says that if a husband let his wife outfishes him and she will be hooked for life after catching fish. And your marriage will be rewarding.

When a man fishes with his wife/girlfriend the counting method is as follows:{really,it says it in the book of methods}.

"For every one fish a man should catch it will count as two"."..For every two fish a woman should land with a man on board it will count as one".."If a woman should catch a fish which is longer in length than the man's previous catch, rule #72 immediately goes into effect".See below for rule#72..

Rule #72 -"If a woman shall land a fish bigger in length than the man's previous catch, the man shall have immediate use of a special tape measure in which the increments of one inch are equivilant to 2.5 inches"

My wife hates fishing, but she told me as a kid she used to love hanging out with her dad at the beach catching up a mess of fish.

Guess I never grew up. :D

I read that women outfish men because their reflexes are quicker and they have more patience. I think it may be cause their minds are not a full...  Was that PI ????Sorry....

Nice fish!!!

Funny story w/ my daughter. I took her fishing for sunfish when she was 5. Her 1st 2 casts of her life and she bangs a pair of 12" Largemouth Bass. It took me 3 years as a kid before I got my 1st largemouth and she gets 2 her 1st time out. Then she gives me the ho-hum look and says she's bored.

I figure after seeing her brother catch a few the Bug may bite her as well.....I can only hope
