New Rod Bad Mojo

Picked up my custom built Lami 1084 a few weeks ago from CMS Enterprises, they did a awesome job on the rod. I called it my generations rod put a few extra dollars into it and had my two sons names added to the rod, came out really nice. Was planning to hand it down once my boys get older. Second time out with it and Im throwing eels for the first time this year. As soon as the eel hits the water it gets hit, good and strong. I set the hook hard making sure the 6/0 does its work. Huge shot gun noise on the hookset and the rod snaps in two places clean in two, didnt even splinter just clean snapped. Still have the fish on, fight it with 6' of broken rod and two guides. Land the fish and she is a solid fish. weigh it quick and let her go, 26lbs. Man im upset that rod broke the rod came out so nice I was looking forward to handing it down to one of my boys someday. Im going to call CMS tomorrow to see if they will replace it, What does everyone think?
Bad blank will they replace it?

Well, that pretty much confirms my choice for my next rod - it's gonna be the Lami 120-1M....:smokin:

Never heard of a GSB breaking, heard a few stories about the 1084/1085 with the higher modulus graphite, though -

Man, I feel your pain :hs: what a drag.

Lami will replace the blank, but I bet you're gonna be out the cost of the custom wrap :( Bummer

Of course you know that odds are good that if you got a 26 pound bass on the first cast - dey was more dere.....
I don't know what's worse the rod breaking or missing out on a good night....
Sorry to hear that...

Don't worry, CMS warrants their rods for 2 years. Assuming you didn't build on a clearance blank they should do a full replacement for FREE. At least that's what they told me.
