Polski Owners

To all you guys who purchased those "POLSKI" (salmo) plugs...

Change the split rings before using them. I liked the plugs I got from Bernzy so much I bought a bunch of them (in different models) from some outfit in Wisconsin that carries them. Anyway, last night we got into them but good for about 3 hours. The "fatso" was on nearly every cast. (amazing plug, really, no lip it swims (and casts) great) Fish were in the 20# class with the the occasional large tossed in now and then. After my7th or 8th fish I tied into a real bovine and after a huge first run the dog fight in the current began only to break free. Upon inspection the rear hook and split ring were gone and the front hook was hanging from a twisted narly looking split ring. If you look closely you will see that these rings have a thinner wire then the HD ones that come on most quality plugs. Strange because they use a hand braized 4X eagle claw hook (expensive) but hang it from a crappy (cheap) ring. As of this morning all my Polski's have HD rings. I am pissed at myself because the other night I changed one (on another slamo plug) because it was egg shaped but the others looked good. Look closely at the wire dia...swap them out... While I was at it I put vmc's on there as well.

Catching the big one is a matter of paying attn to the small details like this. I lost a real quality fish last night because of my own stupidity. Don't let it happen to you.

No problem I love to gig Zebco owners...:D

They are a great reel...I've used them. A little tight and just a tad to simple for my liking but a great piece of work none the less.

I am about to leave to see if I can repeat last night....:o
