All nighters

The last two nights i have fished until after 4am. I have had a lot of trouble getting to sleep after getting back in. Any advice on how i can get my 8 hours in after these all nighters?

RIROCKHOUND 06-16-2004 11:51 AM

Nope, never can seem to sleep while the sun is up, did it all last weekend, didnt sleep till 9p sunday :smash:
I guess sleeping pills would work, but I dont want to try it
how's ya make out with what/where we talked about?

I violated the laws of nature for at least 3 years by working third shift. Always had trouble sleeping, even when I did sleep i woke up tired. The thing that did work best for me was making sure i slept in a very dark place............ If you can try sleeping at around th esame time each day.

melatonin works for me, eat a couple when you are done fishing and by the time you get home you'll be all set. It's all natural and you won't have the side effects of sleeping pills.

Here is a site that has info and you can buy it here too--

Ambian(sp?) sleeping aid. If I take one I'm down for the count in about 20 minutes... you could drug a mule with these.

I wouldnt use them all the time though... Pretty powerful

I have a couch in my cellar. It's cool, dark, and quiet. Melatonin has some kind of chemical that isn't processed quickly through your system and can mess up your liver or spleen or something. At least that is what some tree hugger in GNC told me one day when she saw me buying a bottle of it. Now I just use alcohol. If you have someone else driving try a 12 pack of some micro-brew and a 1/2 pint of Buca! I sleep like a baby every time. And it is much easier on the liver.:gu:

A beer or six to reverse the effects of all the chew and Red Bull that has kept me runnin all night.

cheferson 06-16-2004 01:26 PM

Ya the beverage used to help, but im on the wagon for a bit. Meletonin , damages the liver?

get it at GNC its called Calms Forte, 8 bucks a bottle. Works like a dream, no pun intended. mom got it for herself, dad uses it some times if he cant get to sleep.

Try Benadrill or Simply Sleep either works for me when I have to work night shift. I wouldn't make a habit of it l. ThomT

I tried Melatonin a few times, and had some of the most messed up dreams ever.. something along the lines of green ooze everywhere, world coming to an end...

I have a bunch of black sheets and a blanket tacked up over my windows... works like a charm! A little bit of an eyesore though, but you can't beat pitch black in the middle of the day!!

a big fattening breakfast.
my father would make eggs and bacon and corned beef hash and english muffins loaded with butter for breakfast whenever we got back from a late nite trip. not good for the cholesterol but you'll sleep like a baby

I do all nighters all the time, and never have trouble staying up all night and then some. When i finally decide its time to sleep im out in a couple of minutes no matter when i am. I think its just the way it is, some peoples internal clocks are more sensitive than others. A lot of it also has to do with what environments you grew up in depending how noisy or habits you go into.

striprman 06-16-2004 06:31 PM

2 shots of JD and a glass of milk.

macojoe 06-16-2004 07:55 PM

You dont stop at 4am You stop at 8am and then drop dead for the day

l.i.fish.in.vt 06-16-2004 08:28 PM

Dave you stop plugging at 8am, then you switch to sandeels till just before sun set.when the pink elephants start swimming by then you can get some sleep.
