striper fishing locations

Hi Folks,

My name is Brad and i'm looking to get a little more into striper fishing. i'v been going with my parents friends for a few years now but we always go on their boat out to the Elizabeth Islands and i'm looking for a few places that are closer to home so i can maybe go on a weekday. if any onw has any spots they don't mind sharing i'd be greatful. i live in acushnet so anything close would be great.

thanks
brad

hi nblax
grab your rod and go a lookin'.....that's half the fun;)

riverrat2 06-22-2004 01:14 PM

Just like slingah said go looking, look for a place with current and rocks, if you find those two things with a good depth you're in.

Hi Brad,

Do what Slingah and Riverrat2 said. You will feel much better about your catchin' when you put your time in.

Enjoy--

Yup, many of my spots, I've found myself or knew about since I was a kid. I'm sure you have many spots you know of that are close to the ocean.

Hi Brad. I'm also a relatively new member to this site. Let me tell you that the people on this site are incredibly knowledgeable and will help their fellow fishermen with practically anything. However, specific fishing spots are an exception.

There are numerous reasons for not posting a specific spot on the Internet, all of which I firmly agree with. One of these reasons is overcrowding. Hundreds of people are going to read this thread and many of them will soon show up at the spot. I don’t know about you, but I personally don’t like fishing with someone 5 feet away from me. When a spot gets overcrowded it often leads to trash and parking problems. This then leads to private property and no parking signs.

Slingah has given you excellent advice.

Some members may offer specific spots. I hope, for your sake, they at least provide them in a private message.

Good luck!

Frank daignault has a great book called striper hotspotsI think surfcasting RI sells it... cant go wrong with that book.

Try looking at this, you can then go "exploring".

even better, try this :

I have caught several keepers in the area within that map and that is less than 15 mins from your house.

We have caught schoolies in the acushnet river in mid May. Hopefully you will remember that 11 months from now.

Even more keepah stripers in this picture:

And on the other side of portugal you can go here:

hey Ya'll,

just wanted to say thanks the maps look great and i plan on using them, and i totally understand about keeping you spots secret so they don't get over crowded. so no worries.

Brad - just remember to chose safe spots and to do the buddy system, certainly if new to surf fishing....

Good luck

chris L 06-23-2004 03:01 PM

what do you do if you dont have any buddies ? stay home ? fish in small ponds ? go for the gusto cause you only live once ?
