Eels or Plugs

Which do the fish prefer? I would think eels, but last night, Bud8 out caught me 3-1 on plugs when I was using live eels. We were fishing within 20 feet of each, so we were hitting the same water.
What gives????

He wrecked his favorite needle on a 33", 16# blue though. hehehehe:laughs:

 some nights, thats just how it goes, seen some nights when they will turn off of eels, plugs, and go for tin, just got to change 'em up and go with what works.

BigMike 07-01-2004 06:43 PM

You use tins at night???

Karl F 07-01-2004 07:07 PM

yep,
used to think no way, till I got PROVED wrong about 6 years ago, ask BM, I know he does too.

Tins work at night.

But then again, anything works at any time of day/night.
Just depends on if thats what the fish want or if they're there.

Eels during the day work just fine. :D

when I am fishing with a buddy we will have one of us throw plugs the other will toss eels. Works even better with 3. ! fishes needle,2 fishes swimmer, 3 fishes eels until we find out what they want

That's right Dave!! :D That Canalman needlefish did out fish you last night!!! Its more of the fact that I was able to cast my bait to the fish last night and you were coming just short! Thats my feeling as the fish I caught were on the end of a long cast . No wind where we fished last night!! It was easy fishin' at its most relaxing! Nice sandy beach and nothing to worry about! A far cry from the rock hopping we have been doing. My arm hurts just thinking of it!!!

So Dave! What ya need is an eel that ya can throw as far as my needle!!

Friday night at the deep water spot!!!!! Ready for the walk in the daylight?

An even split more or less between a Crippled Herring and Black/Purple and Yellow Bombers. They were just plain aggressive
lastnight.
