Plugs to Use right now

1 Attachment(s)
These are what You should Be using right now.
top Gun is a black and chrome bomber and a black and gold chrome But You will see a pearl'd out chart back pink belly bomber pearl'd out.
This thing is killer on the sand and right now it kills the pearl bomber and the bone bomber,.
I believe its due to the Hue from the chart and pink.

The black Yellow bomber is a top choice. I have variations in color of this plug along with yellow white bombers and bombers from the 80's that came in the box In yellow (these have a mold ridge on them and will smoke a regular bomber at times:devil:
there is an olive back and yellow scale belly over gold chrome
My last one that smokes the fish.
If You think color does not matter even in the dark You are wrong.
On My bombers I usually remove the middle hook and replace them with vms.
on some I swap out hook size to a 2/0 up front and a 1/0 on the rear.
You can put a 2/0 on the rear if You like the subtle change in action from that rear hook may put you on fish

here is a pick of the black an chrome.
I killed the fish to low 20lbs last night on this plug
note the middle hook is gone

The Striper plug is a winner and these are 1st pics for when the moon is out.
the middle plug is a tnsami or some thing like that and My Buddy was killing them cast after cast with that one.

REWARD - next, it goes on a milk carton

last night I was dropping my rod and sweeping the plug and away from the shore as the bass were hitting right up tight on the shore.
I plcked out a nice 20 whatever with out letting it run and sand fought it:laughs:
Ya need to run through Your plugs and find what the bass want and then when the fish come in heavy You will be on every cast like last night:D
work the bomber ,You can rip it and pause and the slow retrieve it.
what Im saying is find out how they want to eat the lure.
if Your reeling super slow or dead drifting the bomber and there chowing. go right to a needle.
(think sand eel)
the key to success is to figure out how bait swims and acts in the water.
I was fishing a bar and white water and most times thats where You can start and find bass.
I worked a bar that parallels the beach going out at an angle tossing over it and workink the beginning as well as the back side of the bar and walking to deep water just where the waves stop breaking on the inside of the bar.
I worked bowls and I would walk 5 feet cast and have fish and move 5' or so down the beach (looking for bigger fish and to keep the fishing hot for Me)
here are some needles I have been using the olive and gold is deadly and i build My plugs to My specs as in fast sink slow sink and float:skulz:
lighter colors in the moon, I use a flesh color and yellow along with another killer combo not shown :rtfm:
I will cycle through My needles in color and how they swim to target Bass at night

any way black with red around the eyes and solid colors hue'd will put out more than others.
again once You find the right color ,if the fish come in hard You will be on alot more than another color that was'nt to good when it was slow during that night.
look more plugs to copy

Ya killin me with them needles...

bassmaster 07-05-2004 05:25 PM

this should give You Guys some thing to think about to get You going in the surf.
remeber its the Man behind the plug not the plug.
You have to work and impart the action and figure How the fish want to Chow......
This Has been a Bassmaster prodution:D

thanks Bassmaster, good food for thought.

Mr. Sandman 07-06-2004 01:37 PM

give the megabait JB-130 a try. My favorite minnow bait. Looks great, swims better with less fwd movement (longer time in sweet spots) and is better built then bomber types. (thru wire w/VMC's)

Flaptail 07-06-2004 01:39 PM

Whew, for a minute there I thought you were gonna show them what was really workin' ! :laughs:

Notaro 07-06-2004 02:02 PM

I gotta say Dave, this is pretty handy info. I pulled out my gold patterns that I hadn't used in a while. Cleaned them up. sharpened, etc.

went out and used them last night, on an outgoing to slack and was pleasantly surprised. I have lately had an affection for a herring looking swimmer from I don't know where and lost it last week :af:

Since then I have been rotating through the colors but have only one yellow swimmer that wasn't picking up like the old standards for me. Black, Blurple, Bone, Silver/Black. Yellow back.

The things that weren't there were More gold/ Mustard, etc.

Last night was a joke at one point because I had worked to friggin hard yesterday and had a hard time standing. I was hurting.

Thanks for the primer. The fundamentals get lost once and a while.

You're still a showoff, though.

:D

Poor fish, they don't stand a chance with you Dave.:D
