Where to buy eels in the Cambridge, MA area
Hello,
I live in Cambridge, MA and I am looking for a bait and tackle shop close by where I can buy eels. Thanks, Steve |
There isnt any store around Cambridge that sells eels. If you are willing to drive to Waltham, there is a store that sells eels or you can go to Everett (Pete Santani's)
|
Now, I'm no business barron, but if I was to open an eel store, I doubt that the Cambridge area would be high up there on my list. For some reason, I just don't think the demand would be too high, and I think I'd have to sell a lot of eels to make rent
Ok enough of being a jerk for me. I don't have a clue where to find eels. I live in Norwood. The best bait and tackle store around here is Wal-Mart. Now that is weak:fishslap: |
Sportsmans Den -Quincy
Bob's Bait Shack - Wintrhop Or several restaurants in China Town. It can help you out in a pinch or late night when evryone else is closed. |
Thanks guys.
Bonefish - never thought of Chinatown before - great suggestion. |
bonefish, those eels from chinatown arent american eels. and also those eels u see in the market are freshwater snakes!
|
Dynasty has american eels in the window swimmin around.
:D Also, American Eels are found in fresh/brackish/salt. |

I love dim sum:)
Where is your dad's restaraunt going to be Notaro....I'll come check it out sometime |
not yet, he is renovating now. it is going to take time. it is on the beach street. the exact address is unknown.
|
If you've got time, get a minnow trap and toss it into the Charles or Mystic. My first try in the Parker yielded over 20 in about 2 hours using an old SB rack. Fished all night and had plenty left over for skins and rigging.
|
I live right near the Charles. I should try that.
Thanks |
Hey Notaro, can your dad hook up some catering? I think the turnout would be 200% greater at just about any meeting with 50 lbs of bonless spareribs and some scorpion bowls!!:hihi:
|
Get a 15-20 gallon tote and an aquarium pump. Load up next time you get eels and keep reserve at your house. Comes in handy at 3 am . Plus you can cull out the smaller ones. A couple changes of water and they won't smell. Been caught changing water in my condo complex. Got some strange looks. Where did you get your eels? My spare bedroom!

Get a bunch and keep them at your house. a 15-20 gallon tote with fishtank areator will do fine
|
The eels live fine...
I may not if I try that :smash: :D |
