There is a cool new option. A colaberative (spelling) effort between BMW and Apple.
Apparently 3 and 5 series BMWs can use their stereo controls from the car to manage an IPOD if connected. Thought it was cool even though I cannot afford a BMW....or an IPOD (LOL). I spend all my money on fishing stuffs this time a year. -IWK |
Make sure your computer is capable of running the iTunes software before you get one. I think it only runs on XP, 2000 and MacOS.
They are pretty neat, but to be honest there are cheaper options. -spence |
My sister is an IPod fanatic, and here is what she has to say:
iPod is made by mac/apple and you can get them at the apple store, apple website or some places like best buy/target... there's a few types, the mini iPod (holds around 1000 songs), 15GB (3700 songs), the 20GB (holds like 5000 songs), 40GB (holds like 10,000 songs)-- tell him to go to this website for more info... http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...ore.woa/71907/ wo/593ACN067jiM2quc9T02OvgzjSB/0.0.7.1.0.6.21.1.3.1.0.0.0.1.0 I have the 20BG which was like $300-something and Marcus got the huge 40GB which was like $500-- depending on how much music you wan to store, the price varys. I think the 15GB is good enough for most users. |
I have the 15GB and use it for file storage :hihi:
If you use it on a PC you can share among many machines but if you use it on a MAC it supposedly gets sucked up into one machine and does not share well with other MACs. If you have a PC and DON'T have a FireWire port, you'll need to buy the IDOCK for another 40 or so to interface between USB 2.0. If you don't have a FireWire, you may want to look at the others out there. Don't get me wrong, the IPODs are pretty good... Ans the software is good too |

Do they interface with home sound systems easily?
|
Depending on how much research you want to do, I think there are better and less expensive options.
Rio Karma's are cheaper, have better sound and much better interface with windows machines. I River also makes some good MP3 players. Sony just came out with a new one as well. Check cnet.com under the MP3 player section, it will give you a bunch of reviews and where to buy at the cheapest $$ |
