Well since no one else seems to want to take a shot at this one I will offer up the only thing I know and that is the Sci Angler System 2 Reels, the originals, have been around a long time and seem to have a strong following. I have never owned one but seem to remember the drag calipers being a little troublesome on the originals but otherwise a good reel.

I don't know anything about that particular Sage rod. I think rods in general, as has been also stated by others, are a personal choice and are best cast before purchasing.

The Wulff TT Intermediate lines have gotten good reviews from other striper fisherman who own and use them and I have been thinking about trying one myself. Currently I use the Cortland XRL Intermediate Striper line. More like a shooting head with a built in running line. The running line has a textured feel which can help with hook sets. I am on my second of these lines as I had to retire the first after many years of service the line began cracking at the rear taper where it meets the running line.
