Can Anyone Tell Me What They Think Makes Nomah A Great Player?

Why do people have the idea that Nomahhhh is such a great player??? What has he done in the game of baseball that merits him being called a great player?

Come on guys...offer up your best pitch and I will see if I can hit it out of the park!;)

afterhours 07-31-2004 09:25 PM

i think that nomie's a great player because................um..never mind.

BigFish 08-01-2004 08:37 AM

Nobody wants to play ball I see?;) I thought not!:)

He's not a great player, he just had a catchy name that sportscasters liked to say out loud.

afterhours 08-01-2004 11:37 AM

seriously, at his best, he was a very good, not great player. once upon a time he was one of the 3 best ss, nomore, nomahhhh.

Squid kids Dad 08-01-2004 06:53 PM

Maybe not great...But a 5 time allstar and 2 batting titles so far aint to horrible..And he's still fairly young...Who knows?? Hall of fame???:)

Raider Ronnie 08-01-2004 07:03 PM

Nomah had 2 or 3 GREAT years and thats it!!!, does that make him a great player and going to get him into the hall of fame?
NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Squid kids Dad 08-01-2004 07:05 PM

The potenial is there..Thats all I meant..Didnt say he was great

BigFish 08-01-2004 07:35 PM

Potential is what you have when you are working your way up through the ranks.....that is also something he left behind a few years ago....if he is still labeled as having "potential" at this late date, my friends, he is what is known as a flash in the pan!;)

Slipknot 08-01-2004 08:07 PM

All I can say is look what happened to Clemmons after he lefy here.

afterhours 08-01-2004 08:30 PM

slip, i don't think clemens would flourished if he stayed in boston. when he left he had ahair across his a$$. who knows, nomore may follow suit if he finds his heart, stops popping up, stays away from double plays, and starts making routine plays in field.

Squid kids Dad 08-01-2004 08:49 PM

Afterhours...You dont think Nomar has a hair across his $$s....All you guys forget about all the great plays Nomar made...Typical Boston fans,,,And believe me I am one...But I have not forgotten,,Granted Nomar made some bad ones, but he made a lot more good ones if not great ones

afterhours 08-01-2004 08:56 PM

skd, nomore was ONCE a player who was approaching greatness. one of my favs, he used to give 100% and hustle. i think the wrist injury started his downfall, that and his ocd. and i am a typical boston fan, tough love. i'm hardest on the ones i love the most.

Squid kids Dad 08-01-2004 09:01 PM

All I have to say is The Future will tell the story...Lets wait and see how Nomar is percieved...His attitude , which I agree has been bad, will probally hurt him as Rice's has...

BigFish 08-01-2004 09:03 PM

Nomore hit into a doubleplay today!

BigFish 08-01-2004 09:04 PM

PS-Nobody is making a case for Nomahhhhh's greatness!

Squid kids Dad 08-01-2004 09:10 PM

I think BF likes stirring the pot:laughs:

BigFish 08-01-2004 09:15 PM

Where is my damn ladle???? Oh, there it is!

Squid kids Dad 08-01-2004 09:17 PM

Is he the only one to ever hit into a double play?? I think not!!

BigFish 08-01-2004 09:18 PM

No, but I think he was the one to pick up Jim Rices baton in the "hitting into double plays with men in scoring position" department! I hope he took it with him to Chi-town!

BigFish 08-01-2004 09:20 PM

Still looking for a "Greatness" arguement....not getting any takers who can give me an answer to "what makes Nomahhhhh a great player"???;)

Squid kids Dad 08-01-2004 09:26 PM

Nobody ever said he was a "great" player
