Fished the Canal early this morning with T.orlando I caught the fisrt fish on the second cast it was just legal, but As usual T. put the pressure on with his first fish @ 28#

So we moved around to another location I went one way T. went another I got a couple of bumps @ the end of the West but that was it!
Then the tide canged East & the fish turned on.I ended up w/ three fish with the biggest tipping the scales @ 32#

I never really fished the East tide,I would souly fish the last of the West. But I've noticed the past year or so slack & begining of the East has been productive for me.Last year I caught a 38# on the beginning of the East my 2nd best:D

Eben the best way is to light it on Fire & toss an eel in it:happy:

My Eye's......it's a personal problem but it helps me fish @ night

The east tide brings the fish in.

Hey 5/0 - 8/0 I strongly feel that what ever works for you, works! You gotta have Faith in whatcha do.
Heck caught a 40#er on a Eagle Claw 3/0 Bronze Live bait hook snelled knot on 40# Triline Big game leader.

Gotta love it.

The reason I like the 8/0 is because I try to use circles with bait. With a small circle I am always afraid of having a small gap and missing fish. You know the dilemma of when to strike when fishing eels? Well I'd like to think I've solved this problem by using a circle on the eel with a baitrunner reel. When I feel the tappity-tap I flip it into baitrunner mode and let the fish peel off a bit before re-engagin the main drag.
