Will It Eventually Dry?

I got three plugs that I envirotexed a couple days ago and they are still slightly tacky......maybe I did not mix the envirotex quite long enough.......will they eventually dry or not?

assuming it was mixed properly, might it be the humidity?, i,ve noticed the same thing when i apply in humidity, don't know if it's coincedental or not. how about it andrew?

BigFish 08-15-2004 09:51 AM

No...I did two other batches of plugs at the same time (different batches of envirotex) and they dried fine! By the way afterhours, do you use envirotex on your plugs? That one you sent me looks awesome!;)

i've been experimenting with different finishes: devcon 30, envirotex, two part i got from boat guy, flex coat, i want to try auto urethane next. the one i sent you was finished with flex coat.

no, strip them down and start over.

BF - I had the same thing happen to me a couple weeks ago. did 3 batches of envirotex and one batch never tacked up. i think i didn't mix long enough. i recoated the plugs and aside from a couple spots i missed, they came out alright.

i have this old junker car i put plugs and other small things in to force dry on hot days.
gets up over 150 degrees in there when the suns out.
easy way to bake 'em.
might be worth a shot?

BigFish 08-15-2004 12:31 PM

Thats what I was thinking Mike....its easier for me to turn 3 more plugs than to strip them down and coat again. Heck, I will just wire them and fish them first!

Christian 08-15-2004 03:22 PM

give it a week,or so, see what happens:)

NIB 08-15-2004 04:11 PM

Just recoat or spray urethane on em.that will prob yellow but they won't dry.

beachwalker 08-15-2004 04:19 PM

tar & feather them :)

Backbeach Jake 08-15-2004 07:17 PM

Bigfish, I had some like that last year. When they finally were handelable, they peeled like a banana the first time they hit thewater. I kept them as a lesson. Wanna see?

Bernzy 08-15-2004 07:20 PM

Mix up another batch, well. Then recoat them and you will be fine.
