Patchin me waders
Took a plug in the leg a few weeks back from a crazy bluefish.
Put a good hole in my bearthables. I know this has been posted out here a few times, but I could not find any specifics when I searched. I know you guys have mentioned Aquaseal, I checked it out on the web and I see Aquaseal for waterproofing leather boots but nothing that looks like a patch. Not sure if I'm looking at the right stuff. My toes are starting to get moldy from the leak so any help is greatly appreciated. Jim |
Thats the stuff. Its not really a "patch" of cloth, just goop spread over the hole and dried to create a patch. There are some accelorators for it too, to cut drying times

That's the stuff...

I too will be repairing my breathables today. Found out the hard way Fri nite that I had a nice hole while deep wading. Aquaseal to the rescue.

Stuff works great, best way to extend the life of your wafders!

You can also use 'Marine Goop'.. works just as good. Goosefish taught me a neat trick, where you patch the hole, and put the waders in your car/truck with the windows rolled up.... the stuff will dry in about 10 minutes that way.
make sure you clean the waders well with warm water and a touch of alcohol to remove any oils, and do the patch on the inside of yoru waders... it will look nicer:D |
Thanks for the responses, just need to pick some up.

I just ordered some. What color does it dry to??
|
Basically it dries to a clear rubber.

aquaseal has held many a pair togerther for me that would have otherwise ended up in the trash...I have recoated entire seams, boots cracks, holes, rips, ect. I have one pair that is mainly aqualseal waders now:D
Seriously, good stuff and it should be in your truck. It takes a while to get hard if it is humid but it seals up problems. (need to try the window roll up thing) I ususally pick it up in tackle shops. As mentioned above...for bigger rips you should patch it on the inside as well, the wader manufacter usually gives you a hunk of material (look in your original box) to use for such problems. For little holes and cracks, just dab some aquaseal on it and let it dry...like new. I like to let it cure for 24 hours before using it again. |
