Good idea or bad?
Any experience?
Currently use big game.
Other suggestions?

Thanks in advance

I use PP 40 or 50# on my 6500ss. I don't fish the rocks so much though. I have heard that some of the braided lines hold up better in the rocks. However, the one time I got into fish in the rocks this year I had no problems.

Zacs - I like the fireline- that rod you used on my boat has 30lb fireline on it. I put 50lb fireline on by baitrunner 4500 recently. Takes a bit to break in - but i love the stuff.

The only problem i had was that the 50 is a bit slick - i put an albright from main line to leader and it slipped - i ended up going to a uni/uni knot and it's been fine.

does the trilene knot work well with fire line or any other braid

I use uni knots on all my braids and never had a problem.

I've used the 14# test on my 6500 for the last two years and love it. No wind knots or snap offs. Only problem is it tends to get fuzzy. Does not seem to effect it's strenght though. Went to Stren super braid on my other reels and it is absolutely the best suff I have ever used. When I use up my Fireline I will go to all Stren super braid.

Hope this helps-

Bob
