Newport

I went to Newport yesterday with the better half and took a swing down Ocean Drive to see if any bluefish were working (she wasn't pleased) I didnt see any activity but was curious if anybody else caught there.

She hasn't left me yet BM..

a better way is
"Honey lets take a ride and look at the beautiful houses/mansions " . "hey look there is the ocean and are those fish " ? " WOW "

Just start shopping on Thames and ditch her when she goes into a store

Chris has the right approach. Always worked for me. :)

I watched bait get driven up on the rocks all day yesterday around the corner at my work.

newport

was fishing last friday in newport and there were plenty of bass the hour before sunrise...all about keeper size...hiting plugs and flies...then the bluefish moved in and the stripers quieted down after sunrise...

You guys have the right idea.."honey go browse the shops..I have to run to the store for a minute"

;)

Sunday AM was dead slow, only one swirl in 2 hours of casting in several spots.

"browse " and "buy" can often be misinterpreted. Don't ever leave your wife alone in downtown Newport... the damage can be extensive. Its cheaper to rent a moive, nuc some popcorn, put her to sleep, and then slip out of the house for a few hours of fishing.

The blues are everywhere. They've destroyed a few of my plugs and all my soft baits. :smash:

You probably need to be there at the right time on Ocean Dive for blues. I didnt have long to stay there unfortunately. Next time I will encourage her to spend the day with the girls so I can get out and fish hahd..

There was a coupla week period with a mix of bass and blues - but it seems like we're in a change of mode now -

There's still plenty of bait around and sporadic blitzes, but it's slowed down for sure -

Went out last nite and found a few bluefish who obviously felt they hadn't destroyed their quota of tackle for the day :af:

Razor-lipped bastages :rocketem:

Hi Crafty, i bought these plastic orange pencil poppers at ocean state job lot a few years ago that work great on blues. I dont know if they have any more but they are cheap and can take a beating from dem blue bastages...

Love the Ranger for blues - cast a mile, single hook on back......
