No need to name spots.
I'm definitely gonna give it a shot down my way.Hopefully some cloud cover moves in.
Thats what I am waiting for also, last night was like fishing at noon. Im not very used to be able to see what I am doing, I guess it was kind of nice. Hey Basswipe have you seen first or second beaches in the past few hours, just wondering what the surf was like.

no fish. no waves. no people. maybe ill go back later. |
We wont see any waves from this storm until tomarow morning. First light tomarow could be interesting.
So do you guys think the fish will have on there feed bags tonight before the storm rolls in? Im planning on fishing 10pm till around 4-6 am. I put 6 hours in friday night for 2 blues and three hours in last night for 3 blues:smash: :af: :af: . Gonna be in gansett, what do you ladies thinks gonna happen?
Fish were on hard in Hull this Am...So I was told...goin out now...good tide and ...will report back i
From past experiences the snot pushes the fish in tight, if there is no seaweed then your in. Narragansett probably doesnt have to much surf right now, it will pick up pretty quickly as the night goes on.
gonna be on land, with what gear and where should I be to increase my chances of a pre-sunrise striper?
PM if you are afraid of spot hounds. have to be near the habah so I can get it home before leavin for work. brings up another point... If I actually do get lucky, whats the best quick way to prep for storage ? when I catch small fish I just head and gut then bag in the fridge.. |
I pm'ed you some info.
On my way out , ill report back when i get in.:D
90 minutes...no runs no hits....
was exactly the opposite of the good tide in my spot...may return in 5 hours... rained out of work tomorrow so FISH WETT Got Aquaskinz:D |
Just walked in the door.
What a blitz I came upon around 7:30.Both bass and bluefish mixed together. Once it got dark it was nothin but bass.Got about a dozen on a Scud needle.Never fished needles until this year and that was my first successful night using one.All the fish had the weight of a keeper just not the length. These were some FAT fish. The cloud cover was certainly a big help I'm sure.Haven't had a decent night of bass catching in awhile.Even though they weren't keepers it was still nice to catch some. |
gonna get some shuteye, if this summer headcold finally goes away I will be out there at dawn to try my luck. Thanks riverrat2.

Their scale sucked:( , said it weighed 20 lbs, but its over 42". Got my buddies cheapo 50lb scale, says 31-32lb:D , but its a piece of crap so well see. Had a sweet night before the surf got massive.
I think Snug Harbor has a good one - they get a lot of tuna fishermen.

I'm close enough to home to come home for lunch.I can see the wind has switched to NE so I'm assuming the bass have boogied, but you never know the blues always seem to be around.I'm gonna hit it again Wed. night. |
28.5 lbs new best for me. Great night. Got a 15lb on the first cast, i knew then it was gonna be a sweet night . Got around a dozen bass and 1 blue before the surf got massive and i had to go before i drowned. Fun night though d#^^^^^&g under huge waves as they crashed over me, first time out in surf that big.Went back out around 7am , but the water was all weeded up. DO you guys think after it calms down tonight, the bass will be back or not till the water clears and the weed settles?????
Depends on where you are... certain spots clear up quicker than others when the wind comes NW after the storm passes
But the bass should be on a heavy feed again after the pressure rises , right?
Who knows, and who believes what...
I think they should be, but only because of heavy surf, I dont think about pressure etc... |
how does wind direction effect the fish?
I understand that onshore winds should push the bait in, so, if I am fishing along the various rocky beaches, what wind direction should I be hoping for? |
I remember last year a hurrican blew offshore around the same time, and the surf scene just exploded with fish at a spot near peggotty:D :D
Surf was big in Newport today and BIGGER at the Tail - weeds churned well up in both
Any luck JOhnR?
