salt water selection in stores

the salt water lure selection is insane

i swear.. im down here in south carolina and i have been to two stores here that make the salt water selection in most stores ive seen in massachucetts utterly pale in comparison

there is a #^&#^&#^&#^&s sporting goods (which i know we have in new england, ive just never been in one, will need to check one out)

and a newly opened bass pro shops... both have such a crazy selection.. im in awe.. im actually gonna buy a bunch of stuff and ship it back.. good prices too..

kinda surprising to me... from all accounts its really freshwater fishing that is king.. at least in this area...

either way, im not complaining...

The first time I went into a BassPro store was like a religious experience. I mean it was like the movies where a brilliant light comes over you ands you hear the angels singing! I never saw so much stuff. I went to DC last year and passed one in Baltimore and one just outside of Norfolk VA. I want to do Cabela's this fall in Hamburg PA. 7 % sales tax there though. Nothing like a fishing dept. that looks like a super Stop&Shop!:D

was there last year[ or was it 2 years ago] when they first opened...more on the hunting things then fishing, being out in the middle of nowhere...the catologe has 10 times more then the store had  not much in the way of salt stuff.....no bargains at all...prices were the same as you would pay at your local tackle shop.

both places here seemed to have walmart type prices... nothing bloated.. except some insanely sized deep running plugs that had to be 24" long... but im sure those for the price were on point too..

I went to the Cabellas in Kansas City this spring and it was mostly freshwater in the fishing section, not too suprising. Nonetheless, it is a very cool place. Almost more like a museum/zoo/aquarium than a store. Must see IMO.

I agree totaly. I went to the one outside Norfork, VA. I just stood there like a kid in Toys'R'us. WOW!

Prices ok, no shipping makes it worth while if you need something special or buying a lot.

i just went to a walmart down here in myrtle beach

another shocking expirience....

several large freezers full of big squid, chunk bait, full balloyhoo, rigged ballyhoo, chicken livers, and all kinds of other crazy stuff

couple nice rod/reel combo's i liked too... stuff i havent seen up north cept in catalogs...

love this place!

from the look of it... its all about catfish and tuna down here... they had a full wall of tuna type stuff...

i went to both bass pro and cabelas in michigan when i was living there. I spent a lot of time out here fishing the salt, i was glad they didnt have much of a salty section. I would have racked up more crap on my bass pro credit card, just to get the bonus points. It would be cool to have a BAss Pro or Cabelas out here somewhere for the selection, but i would still go to the little guy more often. Those two stores are better for hunting stuff than fishing, considering there isnt a huge amount of hunters in MA i cant see a store popping up anytime soon.
