Getting restarted
 

Hi all,
Just getting restarted and ready for the fall. The needle is a prototype I'm working on and is about 2.75oz X 8". Made from Oak. (I can still smell my tools)
Above that is one of my original Chubster bodys done a little different. Weight placement and a Pikie lip makes a nice wagging surface plug that casts like a dream.
Any thoughts on the Needles Willow leaf? I wanted to try it for kicks instead of the standard naked bucktail. Thought it might make a subtle vibration on retrieve...just a thought? Now yers!
Stupid idea? I'm grasping here!

Its good to have the juices flowing again. Bomber A-salt was just placed for ref. purposes...I don't fish plastic plugs :hidin: :devil2: :doh:

Interesting stuff :kewl: On the needle/spinner, yes, they will work. Couple of things to keep in mind. A willow leaf blade adds some vibration and decent amount of flash, colorado blade adds more vibration/thump in the water ;) Both will give the plug some lift, more so with a colorado blade. By this I mean on retrieve they'll cause a sinking plug to ride higher in the water column than the same plug without the blade. I have one that will sink, almost tail down, but even a slow, steady retrieve will have it crawling on top pretty quick. In this case, the colorado is much better, especially if the weight is more towards the tail ;) Try it both ways and watch/listen as the plug gets closer :D

Quite a bit of info I never realized before. Could have the next killer concept out there.
Would then using the colorado on the Chubster work to straighten it out? In other words..even MORE wag at slow retrieve without it? Maybe since 9 out of 10 bass hit the head anyway I go naked buck back there....hmmmm. Here we go again!

i have used needles with delta props/blades and I think they work best woth a french blade I think size 3 or 4 is what i have.
But do You know when to use them:devil: there is a reason for these :devil:

I like the needle fish made from Oak....How does it cast? Does the blade effect the aerodynamics of it?

Surfster I'm liking the spinners .. I'm a spiiner bait man in fresh water .. I do the change up . throw big colorado slow roll with no hits,,, then switch to exact same color everthing with willows and they kill it .. I switch it around the other way too .. Bet it works on stripers ..Your work is original ,,,u got skilz

I feel NO wind resistance at all on the cast. I can however feel the slight thump from the willow which is one thing I was hoping for to help raise a fish...a slight edge when needed. Things been a little slow on LI depending where you look but I'm on it! .
I only had it out for one night and in the wash I really couldn't tell how it looked but I am confident about it. I will have to toss it in some clear calm water during the day just to see what it does. I'll tell you this..it does sink fairly well which was what I was hoping for without adding weight.
I wanted something for the heavy surf..to stay below the waves like a super strike might. Also wanted something to drag the bottom slow when floaters are drawing a blank. Dragging the sandy with that willow might even kick up a little fluff..draw attention ya know?
Funny.. A few guys in my neck of the woods saw it and kinda chuckled over it. Told me to bucktail it and save the spinners for the Fluke!

I have one and its chowed...........

I got one coming up with me on friday... it's long and lean, but it ain't green:laughs: ... it's black/gold/orange.
