Wading boots question
 

Why do some pairs have felt on the bottoms and some have rubber cleated bottoms?
Do both work with corkers?
Aslo, do you wear the same size as you would a shoe size?

The felt gives a bit more grip, although it will wear out eventually and need to be replaced. Korkers work fine over felt boots. I believe the general rule is one size larger than your regular shoe size, but I'd ask about the specific brand.

heres how I see it. If you mostly fish the sand, get bootfoot waders, as they wont fill up with sand. If you fish rocky areas, stockingfoot are great becauase you can buy seperate wading boots that fit your feet and have better arch support than rubber wadingboots... Although, after just researching waders recently I'm finding that some companies are making bootfoot waders with really nice wadingshoe style bootfoots that lace up-

If you go the stockingfoot route- LLBean has a great studded wading shoe, which eleminates the need for korkers 90% of the time

Except what do you do with $200 worth of waders when the studs wear out?

Take a look at the Korker Konvertibles. Has 3 types of treads on the boot( felt, rubber, studs) which you switch depending on where you fish.

You send them back to LL Bean and get free replacements :angel:

REALLY! I didn't think the studs are guarenteed for life

Don't ever remember reading that. Could be, although Bean will replace anything if you complain enough.

Worst case, just have to wear the korkers more often.

Has anyone tried the New Red Head Waders with the built in Spikes offered in the BassPro Shops Big Hunting Catalog.

I think they are called RedHead Bone-Dry Extreme™ Waders

Retail for 169.95 They seem to be perfect for cold weather and Rock/Jetty Fishing. If anyone has tried em...Let me know what you think. I would like to get a pair for the Jetties down here.

Take a look at these... Not exactly cheap but might be what you're looking for.

I have the un-studded red-head bone dry's and I love em....
79.00 and they rock.. for the money... my old 40 clam hodgemans (bought 5 years ago at Ocean state job lot were the best value..)

I like korkers over felt.,.. feel more stable than over Lug...

camoflage waders while surfcasting! those would clash with my aquaskinz:hihi:

I have the same issue. My Goose Hummocks cap doesn't match my wading jacket and I almost walked out the door one day with both on. Bringing camo into the wardrobe could spell disaster :bshake:

A funny story. A guy I use to fish with had a company car...a Izusu Trooper. He had the cooler basket, rod racks everything and we regularly ran the back beach. They replaced his Trooper with a Chevy Impala so he put the rack on the front of the Impala and drove it to work everyday. he never did put it on the beach. You should have seen the looks he would get when he would pull in at Murats and all the surf rats were holding court.

I considered getting a roof rack for mine but it's just not worth the money. Even though it's not a big car, I can easily fit several 10' rods with the seat down. Only drawback is my car is always dirty and filled with sand :af:
