Dos anyone know who sank yesterday with ten passengers aboard. Thank God they were all rescued. It was on the the TV just now during the Pats Game.
|
It was the Sea Fox
Don't know a lot about that boat. What a #^^^^&ty thing to have happen. Must be a solid captain to have saved all hands.
|
Oh my God in that weather? Was it a charter or a party boat?

2 fishing crews rescue 10 after boat sinks 01:00 AM EDT on Sunday, September 19, 2004 Two fishing boats rescued 10 people who were stranded in the water yesterday when their charter fishing boat sank in Block Island Sound. The 42-foot sport-fishing boat Sea Fox sank 4 1/2 miles south of Point Judith around 2:15 p.m., said Coast Guard Petty Officer Fred Buzzell. Fishermen on a Maine trawler, the Jacquelyn, were nearby and went to the sinking boat. Another charter fishing boat, Midnight Rambler, was in radio contact with Sea Fox and motored out as it was taking on water. With winds gusting up to 50 mph, the fishermen on the two boats pulled the people out of the water before the Coast Guard arrived. "Those two boats saved those people's lives," Buzzell said. The Coast Guard escorted the boats to Galilee, where all of the victims were evaluated and released by Narragansett emergency medical technicians. All of them had been wearing life preservers, Buzzell said. The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the sinking. -Cathleen F. Crowley |

A couple things in this story don't make sense to me,
Was this boat doing a charter with winds gusting up to 50 mpr ? If so :smash: :smash: :smash: If the boat was going down and is a charter boat, where was the life raft? I would think that if my boat was taking on water and about to go down, I would 1st put on life jackets for all, then release my life raft! |
Ronnie,
Charter boats are NOT required to have a raft. |
Mike - have you confirmed that it was Slater running the boat? Was it the Old Man or the kid ? (I get #^^^^& and Don confused)
Also, any reason a 6 pack would have 10 people on board? Maybe it was'nt chartered. |
Gloucester,
Funny you mentioned it, we were speculating why there were 10 POB as we were running out on Wednesday. I don't know the reason or whether it was a charter or not. I don't know the boat or the guys who run it, so I really can't answer your question. |
Thanks Mike - how them tuna treating you this year ?
|
G,
Beleieve it or not I haven't made a tuna trip yet this year  Hopefully before too much longer. |
I would 1st put on life jackets for all

Ok guys sorry the bs flag on the 40 ft wave???? Umm yea no maybe 20 ft doubt it highly but 40??? that means the drop to top of swell would be 80 feet hmmmmm That wouldnt be a :yak5: that would be over backwards bending over kissin your arse goodbye.. Keep in mind you have the height in reports from avg middle meaning you have to add that to the low side on seas to so if they say 6 its really 12 from drop to top.... |
