Double loser

My knots suck. I had an albie in this AM an sure enough the knot slipped. Same thing happened striper fishing with Clammer a few weeks ago. To top it off I was fighting a pretty good cow when she ducked into some rocks and I frigging broke my line trying to pull the bitch out. Then of course I caught a monster bluefish that chewed the crap out of a Yuzri Crystal Minniow at 8 bucks a pop. I suck and fishing sucks. We all have to be a bunch if idiots to put up with this stupid hobby. WORST YEAR EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:

kippy 09-21-2004 09:32 PM

We put up with this hobby because for every bad day you know there will be one where the fish are breaking everywhere and your doing everything right. That's why it's called fishing not catching.
:D

Duke, I had the same problems till I learned the Palimar knot. It's frustrating isn't it? But, I guees that's how we learn. Don't give up. Better days will come.

MikeTLive 09-21-2004 10:00 PM

So far the seaweed has been unable to bust my knots.

Now, if I was catching Fish, maybe it would be different :)

learn from your mistakes... go back and kick some bass :D

to make you feel better, I lost a moose while fishing with clammer due to knot failure.... :smash: I learned from it.:D

Duke41 09-21-2004 10:12 PM

How was that for a venting session. Still is the worst year so far. WTF happened to all the fish"?

Nebe 09-21-2004 10:38 PM

fishaholic18 09-21-2004 10:44 PM

Kippy said it best, Duke there will allways be that perfect morning or night that will burn in your memory every time you think about fishing that will keep you going back time and again.

UNI KNOT- UNI KNOT - UNI KNOT........ learn it and you will be happy. works with mono as well as braid, 5 turns for mono and 7 turns for braid.

kippy 09-22-2004 06:36 AM

I've been using the albright knot for mono to braid connection..easier to tie. The palomar knot is great for braid to barrel swivel connection.

BigFish 09-22-2004 06:43 AM

Lurch....my buddies and I have a new take on that quote! "It is better to have hooked up and lost, than never to have hooked up at all!":D

Surfcastinglife 09-22-2004 07:38 AM

damn i do like 10-12 turns for a uni on mono =P

maddog2020 09-22-2004 08:13 AM

Make sure you wet the knot before you tie it. Some split, or charter buddy I know uses some soapy water (hvy mono over 80 lbs) in a bottle.

Palomar is easy and extremely strong. Berkley knot is easy to tie as well. Simple clinch is fine as long as you wet it.

Albreight to mono-braid is awesome. :)

At least you are getting fish on! You have stories to tell as well. ;)

lurch 09-22-2004 08:37 AM

I said that to my buddy who while bringing a 40+# fish into the boat slipped and let the fish go. I was upset for a while and he felt so bad so I told him the quote, to this day he still feels bad.

reelecstasy 09-22-2004 08:38 AM

I do 6 and get it nice and wet with some spit before tuggin it tight, have never slip a knot...yet
