9 Footers are standard equipment for that kind of thing. Of course you need Korkers too a dn a small bag for eels or plugs etc.

Do stocking foot waders + korkers give you more maneuverability for rocky areas as oppose to bootfoot waders?

I would have to say so...I used to wear boot foot waders and found that the stability in my ankles wasn't the same. I don't have stocking foots, I have the lace up boot foots now and won't ever go back. The support and stability for my ankles have doubled and I feel a lot safer on the rocks than I did with the boot foots.

You have to use korkers with Bootfoot waders too.

I have never used anything but boot foot waders.

Canal Rat,

I guess it's a lot easier to fish with somebody who knows how.

Like fishing the Ditch - you could write whole book on the subject but ya get a lot more out of hanging out with other guys on the rocks.

There are many flavors of rocks by the way.

Most of RI is really "mountain climbing" instead of rock-hopping.

When I think of rock-hopping, places like Squibnocket (MV), Block Island and Montauk Point come to mind...

Some equipment choices ...

1) Korkers a must
2) Inflatable PFD recommended
3) Beefy stick that can double as a walking stick!
4) Water proof or water resistant reel.

My rockpile setup is an Allstar 1208 spinner with a VS 250 reel (you could do just as well with a Penn 704Zz).

I've had boot foot, stocking foot, and the boot foot lace ups. The boot foot lace up combo was the best but didnt last even a seasons worth of fishing. Where the laces went into the rubber started to rip.
