Friday Chuckler
Here's a little something to make you laugh -
I headed out at 3:30am Thurs. morning to do a little fishing. I brought a bike with me to cover more ground. Seeing as how I had the day off, and she was working all day... there was no time limit. I parked my truck at the very East point of my fishing area ((mistake #1)) - - - - Not long after reaching the water's edge I started hearing the tail slaps of some undersized stripers. I quickly parked the bike and tossed in one of BM's Dannys...<<blurple one>>, hoping to start my day with some fish. It didn't take long before I was releasing my first fish. I kept follwing the fish and they remained very cooperative...there were no blooos to be had. Once the sun came up ... the bone-fessst started. I've never seen so many schools of bonito/false albacore...whatever you choose to call them...it was incredible -- and I was determined  The race began - I started my chase and kept on top of them. I was casting very precisely...always working my lure through the ruccus, but as some of you may know...bones aren't the easiest fish to fool. .... but THEY CAN MOVE!! As a matter of fact they move so much .. that before you knew it, I was about 3 miles away from the truck when I came across a school of striped bass...very eager to swallow wood I might add ;) After having some more fun with the bass....the hunt continued on for the bones. I continued to head west...after all that's where the bones were heading and with no honey-do's for the morning...I was still determined. A short time later I came across a decent sized school of bonito. This school was darting east then west and vice a versa...they really had me moving. I probably looked silly to the chunkers that kept seeing me race by and not catching anything - - - Then it happened - - - I had just turned the bike around and started pedaling hard when all of a sudden the bike went clunk and I went flying over the handlebars . . I had been pedaling while standing to move a little quicker and one of the $%#$%@ pedals completely broke off. :smash: ...because I was standing and serioulsy pupming the pedals...I WENT FLYING....<<what we go through just to catch a damn fish>>....Ok, I can deal with this...I'll put the pedal back on :hs:...the thread on the pedal was all %@%$ up, there was NO getting it back on....IMPROVISE!. I went looking for some branches....I stuck a branch throug the hole and tried it out. Three full turns and....SNAP!!!.....Next branch....SNAP!!....Ok...time for something else....My pliers....I stuck one of the handle ends into the hole....seemed to work for awhile....then....CLUNK!!!...It ate the rubber of the handle and kept slipping off the steel.......Next handle........same deal....CLUNK!!....Park the bike and walk back to pick up the pliers....:af: I waste a little more time trying to come up with another idea...but then realize, I'm #$@@%!!! Yes, the walk was long...but it still gave up a few more fish. Once I finally got back to the truck...(and after taking a short rest)...I drove to another spot (the truck, NOT the bike).... 10 minutes later,,,....BONE ON!! :D :D I gotta say....that one fight with the added current made that whole bike episode seem like a forgotten dream. Fishing is like nothing else....you could have a terrible day (which I didn't)....and at the last second something wonderful can happen and change the whole trip... I hope I started your Friday off with a little chuckle....I'm still laughing now....even with both my thighs still pumping. I keep reading reports about there being a lack of fish.....lack of large maybe, but NOT fish. |

I had to type a different post to acknowledge a certain member out there.
Earlier this year I was introduced to someone who kindly gave me a couple of differently shaped lures. He told me to try them out and let him know how they worked. I'm not sure how many of you have met him...BUT YOU NEED TO GET YOUR HANDS ON SOME OF HIS STUFF. I'm talking about Pt. Jude Joe...great guy who puts out some quality stuff. I believe what I was using is called a PO-JEE...Joe recently purchased a lure company and is definately headed in the right direction. Joe, you wanted to know how it worked........:D:D:D THANKS AGAIN!!! You may want to put up different angles to show the difference and uniqueness of these lures....GREAT STUFF!! |
I had some albies following the same sand eel tin with a pork rind yesterday. Joe lyons of surfcast-ri carries them as do many local shops.
|
Great story Bloo..I thought you were going to say your rod tip got caught in front spokes like mine did....I cleared the handle bars without touching them at all:eek:
|
awesome story bloo, I would have love to watch you try and pedal with that branch....thats hilarious......you right thoe...the things you will do to catch fish.:laughs:
|
Great story bloo, I've got to get me some of them lures..
:D |
Bloo, great friday morning read (still smirking).... and I thought me dropping my brandy new ice coffee, knocking over my eel bucket and falling on my ass (in front of 2 cars of people) because my 2nd rod was screaming this morning was funny. But, you beat me :laughs: thnx....nice alby

Great story, Bloo - put a smile on my face - :)
I haven't run into any bones yet but I hit a certain spot we both know ;) around these parts on the hunt a coupla mornings ago where they'd been seen and I had the small Po-Jee tied on. I knew it was gonna be a killer for bones and Fat Alberts - glad to hear you did well with them! :btu: |
That's great!!!! Not a bad Friday....Maybe rollerblades? hahhahahha
|
If my sinuses didn't hurt to laugh I'd be :laughs: my arse off...
Sounds like a great morning - and I know the feeling. A month or so back when I fed my hand to a surf howdy, the surrounding "fish" made it more than memorable :hihi: |
The only bad part of this thread is that I have to think of that for the rest of the day at work. Nice fish though, can't wait to get out of here and do the same.

Great BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ////nice way to start the day//
But I,d lower myself to catching blooooooooooofish if I could see [[big Blooo ]] riding a @#$%^&* bike///:D |

Did I mention it was a girl's bike?? yeah, there was some remodeling done in the basement and my bike is MIA?? SOOOOO...I grabbed the next best thing, quickly modified it.....and then broke it.. she gonna be pissssed at me..., but with it being a girl's model...it's a shorter bike 24" or something.....yeah, I must have looked like a #$@$@ idiot....:D I don't care...but it made the pedaling that much harder when I couldn't use full extension of my legs.....nevermind AFTER I lost the pedal.... :smash: :smash: :laughs: :laughs: |
Great story Bloo.
Here's something you might find interesting to note: "Po-Jee" in a certain Far Eastern language refers to the female genitalia. Be careful where you say it out loud. :laughs: :hihi: :rotf2: |
