Lefty Clones

1 Attachment(s)
Borrowed a real Lefty from a friend and decided to make a few since we here in New England have virtually no access to these. I used a slightly smaller lip so down sized the plug body accordingly. 2 green ones and the original will be going to NJ later in the week.

Karl F 09-27-2004 09:04 PM

Very Nice MAC... :claps:
one on far right, looks like a lefty eye, did you paint it on?

Charleston 09-27-2004 09:10 PM

The plug on the far right is the original Lefty! right?

Karl F 09-27-2004 09:13 PM

Well, if it is, that would explain the authentic look of the eye!
;)

nice copy cat lures:p Dave I got the same color plug and others smaller along with other stuff here.

Thanks for the compliments. The plug on the right is the original. Leftys are sold in NJ at the Berkley Striper Club and Asbury Park fishermans flea markets. The line at the door is split up sometimes, 1 line for general admission and one line for Leftys. I hear some years he gives out tickets and always sells out. This size is done in small quantities each year. So like I said we have no access to them at all without going to NJ. Plus they are 35 bux down there if ya can find them. So I built a few to see what all the fuss is about. Guys down in NJ and NY go nuts over his plugs. The hangers are a PIA.

Tagger 09-28-2004 03:31 AM

wicked nippa pissahh...!!! the hangers are cool,, gotta try that someday ..are they weighted ??

Striperknight 09-28-2004 04:54 AM

Last spring Lefty sold out 350 plugs in 45 min. People go nuts for these. They get in line way early in the morning and get a number that will allow them to buy 4 plugs only.

belly weight, even with top edge of slope

Skitterpop 01-21-2005 09:28 AM

How do they swim?

Sub surface? How does the Lefty move in the saltwater?

Thank you!

MAC 01-21-2005 10:14 AM

moves similar to a danny.

Nebe 01-21-2005 10:33 AM

Eben, I have a few of the Cannon Lures, which are the Lefty knockoffs, and $20 at that. Not really something worth having for New England waters, IMO.
Almost all the southern state plugs are a light cedar, which Im not fond of for fishing our waters

Eben the 2 on the left are cannon lures. And like Krispy says they are light

Nebe 01-21-2005 12:35 PM

Yeah, but on a calm windless night, one of those chucked over a bolderfield would be deadly... Especially at this one place that we call $#@$^@#^$#@ :hihi: I might have to make some :hee:

thefishingfreak 01-21-2005 12:49 PM

mac, show a close up of that sweet looking sparkly green one in the middle.

That's a Wade. Leftys son I believe. $40 bux and it is small. I traded for it. Excellent craftsmanship

thefishingfreak 01-21-2005 05:04 PM

WOW..
i'd like to see an x-ray of that thing:rolleyes: looks sweet.

Backbeach Jake 01-21-2005 05:44 PM

F-ff-f-f--forty bucks! Pretty though.

Jetty Hopper 01-21-2005 06:04 PM

What till the shows this year. Plugs will average about $30.00 each.

Slipknot 01-21-2005 06:27 PM

I have 20 lips for those kinda plugs, I guess I should use them.
