cow coffins
i thought i'd give a heads up to anyone who is looking for a 120 quart igloo cooler............. Sams Club has them for, get this, 37 bucks:eek: I picked one up for my buggy yesterday:D
interior length is 34 inches long |
I got one as well....woo hoo. It is in the back of my SUV. do not have the full surf wagon yet.

i'd like to get one ;) where are these guys located?
|
I saw the same ones (I believe) at WalMart this AM. Nice looking and in a variety of colors!
|
Be careful with the Walmart,Sam's Club, BJ's Costco etc. coolers. I found out the hard way a couple of years ago they are not "Marine" grade coolers. It seems the cooler makers have a Marine grade and a lesser quality/cost "homeowner" grade with less thickness in the walls, less insulation, weaker hardware etc. They are still a bargain but will not stand up or perform anywhere near as well as a "real" marine cooler.
|
Nils - I agree and all it takes is one crack in the bottom and they get real heavy, real quick - ask me how I know :smash:

But then again at 37bucks if you don't plan on hauling anything in it its totally worth it. |
I have to get me a "cow coffin" my prize rode home in a half torn trash bag laying on a towel in the back of my new 4Runner....:( now that should be good and ripe today, ugh...at least the fishy made it into the bait/beer fridge....:D
|
I have the Wal-Fart cooler and yes its not a heavy duty one like the big igloos but I have loaded mine with 200 pounds fish and Ice and Have had no problems yet after 2 years!!
Yea I don't treat it like the good ones, but they seem ok so far and I am commercial |
Like I said they are still a bargain... They break easily and do not hold cold or ice like a real marine cooler...but if you are looking for a cheap short term fish box they are probably ideal. Just be careful trying to move it around with any kind of load in it and you should be fine.
|
moo moo I needed a cheap one :D
I agree these are the lower end "pine box' cow coffin, not the velvet lined, mahogany grained, brass handled cow coffin... I blew th bank on my vanstaal this month:smash: |
I have the green version of this cooler... stores my waders, korkers and jacket between trips... and works well for keeping fish on ice....
And acording to the label it holds 180 beers as well :D |
Oooh, Eben. I tell you what. Since you don't have a marine model cause you spent it all on the yuppie reel, I'll be willing to be a nice guy and trade you my two 120 qt marine igloos for that VanStall. I need a new paper weight for my desk.
Too many fish have met their fates in these coolers. More of mass graves than coffins.:( |
HA! cant do it.... i'm in love with this reel...:humpty:
they may be yuppie reels, but BMW's are yuppie cars and they handle like a dream:ss: |
180 beers Bryan?..I'm sold!
 :buds: |
OOh 180 beers...That would last me and Mikey like 23 minutes!
Later, Rick |

i have a cooler from k-mart 20 gal i believe? ive loaded it with herrin an ice and then bass an blues on the way back, 2 yrs runnin never had a problem with it. its a little scratched from the rocks but its fine :) ice tends to melt after a few hrs in the sun ;P but the water never rises above 40 in there
|
Wal-Mart also. I was floored when two weeks ago my wife said she had something in the back of the van for me and it was one of those. It's the camo type green one though not the white one. I was pretty happy. It's in the back of the buggy now. Wally world has both the white and camo version for 37.99.:D
|
Got mine at an estate sale. 162qt Marine with cutting boards and seat top. $40 Also got an extra large dock box for a friend for $75 :) Bigtime scores  Saved like $500 on just those 2 pcs
|
Flap.. same one.. I like the green... less visible through the windows...
