well i have a website

Im trying to put it on a different webhosting so I can make a reservation page but all of a sudden it got complicated compared to website now program i was working with.

mrmacey 09-29-2004 08:02 PM

all I want to do is

take all my text and picks and build it on this new site and then add a reservation page

spence 09-29-2004 08:07 PM

I've never used the service...

...but you should just be able to download your pages and content from the old site and upload to the new. You would have to change any full URL or server paths.

Describe what's going wrong.

mrmacey 09-29-2004 08:13 PM

this is what I want

http://www.loganlimo.com/rates.asp something like this home page

mrmacey 09-29-2004 08:16 PM

if you put in a city to airport hit submit

it will bring you to a reservation page when you hit submit there it would send me an e mail with the info

spence 09-29-2004 08:26 PM

The basic stuff should transfer over pretty easily. The reservation form will require a simple script. Your hosting provider probably has some examples, but if you've never worked with it before it would be a lot easier to find someone who do it for you, or at least set it up the first time. Too complicated to explain over the board...

to complicated

If you're going to try to do it yourself you should take a basic class. It's not rocket science, but the initial learning curve is steep.

If you're going to register a domain, go ahead, and do so. However, this does not mean you're going to be simply up and running. First, you need DNS service, and a web-server of some kind.

thanks jugstah

Ive had a website now Im just trying to add to it i have all i need as in hosting i just dont understand how to add pics and text the right way i want to make sure it is optimized for the best search results

jugstah 09-30-2004 09:47 AM

There are quite a few self-learning websites available for free on the internet on how to optimize your JPGs so that it's small and loads fast when someone goes to your website.

There are some freeware jpg optimizers out there, but you'll have to hunt them down, because it's been years since I worked for a web-hosting company.
