Getting started

Getting started? How did everyone get started? Did you just say to yourself I can probably do that. Is the best way to learn to just start fooling around with different styles? Is there any good books? I think over the long winter I would like to attempt to shape some wood.

Search through the old threads and should be able to find out just about everything you ever wanted to know.

NJ Tackle sells nice inexpensive kits which are a great way to get the feel for it with minimal investment.

I can only speak for myself... I knew I could do it, and figured it would be a great hobby, more like an addiction, actually ;)
Started, and still do, by copying what I want to build, will stray from the original, on what I feel I'd like to change, be it shape, length, girth, weight, or hook position... it's all trial and error.

Have fun, and enjoy!

Thanks a lot guys, I have noticed how everyone on here will take the time to help someone with a question.. You can not find individuals like this any more. This forum is a great resource and support channel.
