Getting started
Getting started? How did everyone get started? Did you just say to yourself I can probably do that. Is the best way to learn to just start fooling around with different styles? Is there any good books? I think over the long winter I would like to attempt to shape some wood.

NJ Tackle sells nice inexpensive kits which are a great way to get the feel for it with minimal investment. -spence |
I can only speak for myself... I knew I could do it, and figured it would be a great hobby, more like an addiction, actually ;)
Started, and still do, by copying what I want to build, will stray from the original, on what I feel I'd like to change, be it shape, length, girth, weight, or hook position... it's all trial and error. Have fun, and enjoy! Your most valuble tool here: |
I have 2 left thumbs, but after reading Bassmaster's thread on "How to build a pikie" 2 years ago he gave me the inspiration to start.:)
Once i got started there were some really special guys on this forum who helped me:D Eveyone here will do the same for you. Enjoy a new addiction.:boots: |
Thanks a lot guys, I have noticed how everyone on here will take the time to help someone with a question.. You can not find individuals like this any more. This forum is a great resource and support channel.
