Read back through a bunch of the threads here to get some ideas of what/how to do things, then make sawdust :D :laughs: Start with some cheaper wood (dowels will work) to get a better feel for how to use the lathe and tools, then move up to better stuff. Have fun!

Wood should not be a problem, A friend of mine make hand carved wood signs and told me to come and get what ever I want from his scrap pile. He has been burning teak in the fire place all winter.:smash:

two things about teak.. its going to wear your tools quickly.. make sure that you keep them good and sharp..

also wear eye and lung protection with teak.. it has silica (of some sort in it ) and can be rough on the lungs..

other wise it should turn fine.. and you should be able to make
some nice plugs out of it..

i got some mahogany deck scraps over the weekend.. i should be able to make some nice swimmers with them..
