blushing OK - not really blushing

Rob - I started this site back 5 years or so ago after there was a big fall out to what many of us online old timers considered the most fun and enjoyable webboard, the WMI Surf Fishing Home Page. When that site discombobulated two primary sites came along - SOL - a bit before the blow up, and S-B a little while after... I launched the site at the MSBA show in PLymouth at Cordage Park and we s l o w l y grew to where we are today...

Some of the original people that have been a TREMENDOUS help and have been aboard since day one are people like Saltheart, Chris L, Fisherwoman & Baitcaster, of course #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&, and Fishpart, Carl, Slipknot, OX, Steve in Mass, Mike P, all came along in the first 6 months or so of the site.

It's been a ball and I've met some TRULY fantastic people. But I've also made one of my best friends purely by chance through this site in Clammer. Mike - you, She, and your family have added a lot of fun and joy and respect to my family and I know Gwen, Liam, and I deeply appreciate it...

I have no regrets with this site, have nothing but respect, and admiration for the many fine people I have met and wet a line with. I also take great pride in the freindship of others I have seen develop as a result of doing this site - it's great!

Yeah thanks JohnR!!! If it wasnt for him creating this site i dont think i would have caught half the fish i got this year. I went from catching small amounts of schoolies last year before i discovered this site , to catching masses of 20lbers this year.:btu:

Rappin Mikey 11-02-2004 11:24 AM

Yup, this is by far my most favorite thing to do at work.:D

reelecstasy 11-02-2004 11:35 AM

I totally agree, since BobBike turned me onto this site, I don't think a day has gone by that I haven't read and surfed this site...Thank goodness i don't have any work to do while at work... Just sit and surf, and wish for fish...
Thanks John

I remember watching John getting the site up and going with his laptop at Cordage Park. Even tho my registration says later in the year, I think I registered here right at the outset. I was probably registered at first under one of my other internet handles ;)

I have to say, I have much more fun on this site. The difference is, at this site, you feel like you've walked into a local B&T, grabbed the free cup of coffee the owner offered, and took a seat around the stove for a friendly jawing session with the gang.

This is the best site on the web without a doubt..I have learned so much from everyone here..even caught my first keeper from shore this year..thanks bart!

Special thanks to members that have contributed their knowledge, experience and humor.

NJTackle 11-02-2004 12:29 PM

I have to disagree! Boogerboy had the best site...even if it was only for just a few weeks! :smash:

Seriously, excellent site JohnR! ;) Thanks for all your hard work and sleepless nights to keep this site up and running!

Absolutely. As others have echoed I have met some mighty nice people. It's a great mix of experience that is brought to these forums. Neophytes can learn the ropes ( though some say they should do it the old way, by personal experience), middleschoolers can take what they have learned afield and add the tidbits of information so generously given that add to thier growing repetoire and old time sand dogs learn something new as well plus a dash of humility now and then. We are an electronically connected family, we fight now and then (right BM?) but when the chips are down and someones back is to the wall all differences are forgotten and help is given tenfold without regard for past conflicts. Here you are free to endulge yourself in all things Striper. Packages come un-expectedly in the mail containing examples of inginuity and artistry that were once just a rough cut piece of wood. The occasional get togethers that help pass the winter months and the others that happen in season when the fish are here make it all even better. Good natured ribbing and acknowledgment when one has bested a fish of admirable proportion. John has done a good thing here, he is a good man and we thank him most sincerely for his hard work.:btu:  :claps: :claps: :claps: :claps:

I too really like the site and the people. I spend a lot of time on line but only really go to this site on a dependable basis. I spend most of my time in NY but look forward to meeting more of you all in the near future. Hope to be spending more time on Cape and less time in NY.
