plug questions

how do you guys weight plugs. in the past I made a mold and poured lead in it and them cut up the slugs when the mold cooled. How do you guys do it? do you pour directly into the plug body. Also how do you finish your plugs? In the past I have used the methodology in the new england fisherman. first dip in linseed oil and then prime. From what I have read the concessus on this site is to use coverstain in an aresol as a primer. do you guys dip in linseed oil or do you skip it or do something different? thanks for your help chuckie

I use val-oil or zip guard as a sealer and a primer by zinsser. For weighting I use different sizes of buckshot ( depending on size of plug) and for tail weights I ust the ones by NJ Tackle.

I think NJ Tackle has belly weights again as well. I've read some guys do pour the lead right in.

Last year I used Waterlox Marine sealer, BIN primer, Spray cans and Envirotex lite epoxy. This combo probably tags me as a complete novice, but all my plugs have really held up :laughs:
