I want your job bro. Get paid fat loot to surf the web. FIrst the hole hick, now pancake rabbit.

tlapinski 11-10-2004 07:34 PM

chef, beleive me, you don't want it! in charge of a dozen "children". more like a babysitting job than anything. i miss being a drunken cook! don't miss being a truck driver now that it's cold again.

cheferson 11-10-2004 09:15 PM

How long did you cook for? Miss it? You should see some of the "children " i work with!!! You dont even wanna know what i have to work with, some days id rather just do 100 covers myself, then try to watch/train these clowns.

tlapinski 11-11-2004 07:13 AM

i worked as a prep cook at the olive garden for about 10 months. then i ran a pizza joint for a few months. after that, i was a line cook for about 1.5 years. i love cooking!if it wasn't for the extreme liver damage, i would have stuck with it. :gu: :gu: :gu: :gu: :gu: :gu:

Once a dirty line cook, always a dirty line cook.

MikeTLive 11-11-2004 07:42 PM

cooking is in the blood

a few years dish dog (MillWarf/Dockside)
a few more years prep cook (Pete's Dockside)
a few more years breakfast/lunch (Pete's Dockside)
a summer at a camp cooking for 300+ (with 2nds and half round of 3rds) (Squanto)
a few more years line cook lunch/dinner (Harborview)
and a year or two chain Break/Lunch/Dinner (Bergsons)

Then went into IT and dropped the restaurant jobs.
MISTAKE!!! Should have stayed with it.

Since then I have expanded my repertoire to include BBQ, Whole roasts, soups, stews and even ice cream :)

Some day I will have my restaurant!!!
and I will be hittin up you folks for the freshest bounty of the sea!!

I get to sit at home and surf the web all the time reminding myself that I am unemployed because for the most part these days.............................................. ....

We are all just a number to most employers!

Babysit away guys!!!!

Hey Chef? Whats on the dinner menu tonight?:laughs:

spence 11-11-2004 09:23 PM

I'd love to be able to cook for a living, although I don't know if I could hack the reality of it. Much easier to cook on weekends and have everybody ohh and ahh over the food and not have to cook for 100 people.

I offered to cater a friends (small) wedding as my gift in 2 weeks, they accepted then turned me down when they invited 3x as many people as origionally planned. Thank god! Now all I've got to do is make Lobster Bisque for 25...that I can do...

Nebe 11-11-2004 09:29 PM

spence 11-11-2004 09:36 PM

Eben, any time you, Woodi and the C want to come up I'll cook you a meal you will never forget...just name the weekend...

Nebe 11-11-2004 09:51 PM

hmmmm.. maybe after the mink run. :D

spence 11-11-2004 10:15 PM

Last weekend I was fishing a heavy mink on the main line with a hamster on a short piece of 50 lb flouro as a teaser. Freakin hamster kept on knawing through the flouro and casting off.

I had to tighten up his harness so he couldn't breathe as well, and I think that kept him from chewing as much. Also, and this is an important tip. Put a spoonfull of marmalade in their mouth as you're rigging them. Use the good stuff with no added sugar. It may seem like an extra expense, but they'll be so occupied for the first few casts you might just hook up with a cow.
