Anybody Go Out Thanksgiving Morning?

I did....

I was actually up early enough (as in real early) to take the safari to SoCo I was contemplating and still get there well before dawn for a nice pre-turkey session.

I opted instead to hang at the ranch for a while to help Mrs. Crafty finish prepping the dinner and just headed out locally later on to see what was shaking, which wasn't much, but it was a way to stimulate the appetite anyway - not like I need it.

Sheesh, I don't know what's got into me - it's the holiday spirit or old age or something...:smokin:...ah, it doesn't matter, there's always tog, then salmon, then trout on the Cape....

Anybody hit the suds this AM?:confused::huh:

Took a quick ride through gansett this morning. Surf was pretty big and water was clouded/weeded up. Didnt notice mutch goin on, gonna do the sunset ride in a bit . I saw some of your work at SWE Crafty, your stuff is killer!!! I cant wait to i got some extra coin to get some of your work. The photo from Graves point??, was crazy big old line up of high 40's and 50's, all caught on that antique equipment from very early 1900's.

Im not in Rhode Island today but I did fish the south shore of Long Island. For those guys needing a fix take the ferry over it is well worth the effort big fish on herring in the wash. The next 3 days I will be here putting a hurt on them big fishies. Plenty of blues down here and the water is pretty warm!

Thanks, Chef - we're happy to announce that the Saltwater Edge is now carrying our work here in Newport - I just dropped those prints off to Pete on Wednesday.

The 1881 Graves Point photo is still my all-time favorite - 10 basswith an average weight of 49.5 lbs. is a pretty good morning's fishing, especially when you consider the equipment they were using. Next time you're there, check out the 58# in the photo - it's a racer :eek5:

I actually have a greenheart striped bass rod from that era with a vom Hofe leather thumb-brake reel that still has the old Cuttyhunk line on it. Just found 3 spools of unused Cuttyhunk line and I still want to give it a shot some night just to see what it must have been like :smokin: But I'll use eels instead of the the lobster tails those guys were probably using for bait -

If you want to stop by some time I have a small gallery and we're doing an Open House on weekends 'til Christmas - or just shoot me a PM during the week - we're just 3 blocks north of the SWE off Thames.

We also just finished the website (with the help of a well-known Webmeister) on Monday and expect to have it up and running within the week -

Went down to Green Hill area this morning. Not a bird in the sky. Got back in truck and drove home.

Well myself and friend LaFleur did our annual day after Thanksgiving fishathon today. Since the wind was up there was no boats or islands involved. We started in Wellfleet at a weel known trout pond at sun-up. Even though trout were rising we struck out there. Went south the another trout pond which also has Salmon. Yours truly hooked a large salmon on my fifth cast and dropped it right in front of us on a Silver/gold Colorado spoon. Soon after I landed a 16 inch Rainbow and a 20 inch Tiger Trout. Missed two hits but I really wanted the salmon which looked to go ten pounds. Lafleur had two hits and dropped a brown trout. We did better than the bait guys. Left there and headed for Sandwich and hit a well known creek mouth into Cape Cod Bay at the strat of the outgoing and between us we caught and released 9 school Stripers up to 23 to 24 inches. All and all not a bad day.:D

I went to bed extremely late Thursday night (Friday morning). I some how made it up at 3:00 AM, drank a pot a coffee and went to go put the gear in the car... after two minutes, I decided to it was too damn cold. I went to go get back in bed, but my wife woke up and yelled at me for my feet and hands being artic cold. I layed on my side of the bed, staring at the ceiling until 7:00 (pot of coffee didn't help.)

The rest of the day consisted of cutting wainscotting and chair rails.

I need some gloves.:smash: :smash:

Did SWE get a shipment in?
