You guys have anygood advice on a good snorkel and fins? I want to start checking out the structure underneath the suds and maybe a lil spear fishing after i got more comfortable next season. I prefer the de-bearded clam, that have become readily available these days.

S-Journey 12-06-2004 12:51 PM

I dive both open water and Chris L's specialty, the muff:D

Would like to get down more, need people to dive with. Sucks going down alone.

chris L 12-06-2004 12:57 PM

I dive with only one partner at a time

Rappin Mikey 12-06-2004 01:47 PM

I was waiting for someone to come up with that. I had a pretty good guess who it was going to be.

Fish_n_Dive 12-06-2004 06:14 PM

HEY:smash: :smash: :smash: none of that :laughs:

Canal Rat what cert do u have, i'm rescue/MSD

Cheferson i have the scuba pro twin speeds and they are great, i would rocomend going to a dive shop and getting advise from them/ try on a few, then if you want you could get them off the net.

Vectorfisher 12-06-2004 06:20 PM

Cheferson I stuck with the simple stuff, stayed with the Scuba pro black runner fins, I forget what brand snorkel I have but you will get a feel for what they are all about in the store, some have purge others don't it's all in what you like. Personnally I was looking for a collapsible snorkel the last season that I made a lot of dives but that is just me.

Rob Rockcrawler 12-07-2004 02:38 AM

Im taking a scuba class this winter, i need the certification for rescue eventually. Getting stared out how much will i be looking at spending? Just a ballpark figure.

Fish_n_Dive 12-07-2004 04:24 PM

depends on where you dive, what you buy/rent, how much you dive. new/used dont remember how much the classes cost, but id say for gear to dive up here low end $800 high end 5k:smash:
add some for rental tanks, it adds up quickly :af:
but its so much fun

btw when you get your cert. get DAN insurance

chamber rides cost a lot!

Vectorfisher 12-07-2004 09:02 PM

Check out Ebay, I spent $ 1600.00 and I tried to keep the cost down:rolleyes: I recently sold my BC and regulator, will check out some new gear in a month or so. I am thinking dry suit but I dunno been tough finding someone to dive with who has the time so I may just back off who knows.

Fishpart 12-08-2004 07:21 AM

Dry suit? Have a DUI for sale or trade, also two 80's with K valves (need hydro) and a double manifold with backpack....

Spent 8 years diving, haven't made the time to do the sport thing.

tlapinski 12-08-2004 07:25 AM

keep it simple, free dive! i got back into snorkeling this year. i even found a Habs needle waiting for me on the bottom! :D

CANAL RAT 12-08-2004 01:58 PM

i am open water certified and i rent my gear

Fish_n_Dive 12-08-2004 11:29 PM

fishpart what size suit?

ive also got a SeaQuest pro QD med used for like $100 if anyone needs a bc

Fishpart 12-09-2004 06:59 AM

DUI CF200, Medium. Fits someone 5'6" to about 6" or so to about 220 pounds or so with sweats on...

Fish_n_Dive 12-09-2004 04:56 PM

just a little too tall for that suit :smash:

Hey fish,,, ever dive in the glouster area?

pete santini 12-25-2004 11:56 AM

My girl went diving on our recent trip to the galapagos she said it was awesomeshe saw turtles sealions tuna wahoo white tip sharks all types of reef fishes, on her second dive a 14 foot hammerhead swam right by the boat right before they got into the water, the dive master said they never bother you as he was humming the theme to jaws. Shes padi certified and swims like a fish 3 years ago off costa rica about 25 miles off shore she got into the water with a huge school of spinner dolphin with a bunch of big yellowfin underneath.

keeperreaper 12-25-2004 01:11 PM

Been certified for 18 years. Dove all over New England and Mexico. Great hobby.
