Harnell 721 9'

I just bought one, haven't picked it up yet. Anyone have one of these or got info on their use in the surf? Its one of the newer Harrington blanks, wrapped nice with Fuji reel clamp.
Thanks

i haven't tired any of the newer harnell/harrington rod blanks yet. if they are anything like the old harnells, you better start doing some pushups.

toby, could be a good rod to say "hello" to the "neighbors." what do you think?

Not familiar with that Harrington/Harnell. The 3 Harnels I have are a 542, which is a 10' parabolic blank, the 540, an 8-1/2' meat blank, and my dad's ancient 552 which you can pole vault with.

The 542 is really no heavier than a Lami 121 3M in your hands. It might weigh an ounce or two more on the blank, but finished and with a reel on it, the difference is negligible.

Wow, this is an awesome rod!! Throws bombers to 4oz Pencil Poppers.
Its a little weighty but not unweidly, and has some serious backbone. If anyone is looking into glass rods, you should take the time and check these out

I have an old harnell... its stripped down to teh blank so i have no idea how it casts, but mine is stiff as a pool cue- and its 9 feet.

looks like it would be a good popper rod.
