Thru hole size?

What size hole do you drill thru your plugs. I imagine you use stainless welding rod for your thru wire. That measures around .062. I would think all the thru wired plugs would use the same size hole thru them. I understand that there is also weighting that is put in too which requires a larger hole. Thanks P.M.

5/32" because thats the size of the nose grommet from NJ Tackle

3/16 is good for those gromets too. only 1/32 bigger.

redneck24 12-10-2004 10:48 PM

i use 1/8

Drill the thru hole at 1/8" dia. Then drill in about 3/8" with the .156 drill for the nose grommet.

3/16 seems to work well for my metal lip swimmers. I go down to 1/8 for needles.

Just an FYI. I just bought 10 pounds of 308 stainless welding wire for cheap money. $75 bucks. I got enought wire for 43,653 plugs

Last pound I bought was $5, guess I should have bought more.

Yeah, metal has gone up dramatically. I read the other day in the NY times that scrape metal is going $253 a ton. I remember $20 a ton just a few years ago.

ProfessorM 12-11-2004 05:15 PM

Probably the Chinese demand for it. P.M.
