ok,
here's what i got. 1976 olympic set. 28 coins. 14-$10 and 14-$5 |
10 1971 ike silver dollar proof sets
5 1976 bi-centenial proof sets |
5 1977 proof sets, 5 1977 elvelope sets.
5 1978 proof sets, 5 1978 elvelope sets. |
5 1979 proof sets.
5 1980 proof sets, 5 1980 elvelope sets. 5 1981 proof sets. 5 1982 proof sets. |
wife says they gotta go:rolleyes:
and i agree:smash: there's also a "few" other loose coins. an indian head nickle, a couple 1912 nickles. |
Have the 1981 sets checked out. They could be worth 11 bux each or 350 each if they are type2. Something to do with the S if I remember correctly.
|
The 79 proof sets are the same way, 12 bux or 130. Other than the olympic set the other stuff is worth on average 10 bux each. I don't collect anymore but I used too. A reputable dealer will be able to tell you if they are type 2 or not. Buy "the blue book" and it will give you values of what a dealer will pay. And it will tell you what a type 2 is.
|
thank you mac:)
best i get them appraised first, huh?:) |
I would> Most of the stuff is common but the 79 and 81 sets could be interesting. I'd get more than 1 estimate too. No need to have the other stuff checked as it is common. The canadian set is a whole other animal. I have no idea.
|
thanks again mac.
i knew i would find out something here:hihi: allways do:) mike now i gotta pack this stuff up again:smash: the wife has a new found respect for "that friggin' box of coins" thats been taking up space under the staircase.:):D :D |
Mac, buy 'em.

FF - check out this guys site - he's in Stoughton.
Also DelGreco Coins in Weymouth will pay about the same $$. http://www.jlsnumismatics.com/buying.htm |
Go to a Barnes and Noble or other book store and look under magazines like Coin World or Coinage. They will have prices on most of the coins you have to get a better idea what all of them are worth. Take a inventory list with you and price them up. This way no coin buyer or dealer will rip you off and give you a good idea what they are worth. My two cents.
|
good point, also, a reputable coin dealer will purchase using what is called the "Grey Sheet" as a wholesale buying price guide.
It's either that or try to get retail through "freakbay" (no pun intended Mike ) :D |
thanks guys.
the 1979 set has the fuzzy S and the 1981 set has the clear S. i have a coin book from 1989 that explains the "S" difference. the clear set is listed for $100 each set, as per my 1989 book. i'll shoot an e-mail to that website beetle. see if he's interested, then go from there. really don't want to ebay them. thanks again. be nice to get rid of them and get some x-mass cash:) mike |
that guy offered me $335.00 for the whole lot :rotfl:
if i delivered it. |
