Decided to copy an original Giant Pike from a beat original I have.
Justplugit sent me some CLEAN red cedar :kewl: (thanks DAVE!)
Gonna bang out some more of these in brighter colors as well as jointed...stay tuned. Dave, you'll get the pick of the litter :wid: :thanks:

Mr Jigster...thanks, swims like a Pikie should. A little lighter in the water than I expected but no mods were made from the MY original setup. The real Creek Chub pikie had a single belly weight between the belly hooks but seems its a heavier wood. Mine has 4 holes evenly spaced...hooks and weight. When you look at the plug and see the belly hooks imagine one before the first hook and one in between evenly spaced about .750" apart. Depending on current and retreive you either get a thrashing wag or a mellow wake.
I can only imagine how sexy this would act if jointed and a little heavier! AYC or a heavier wood might add the overall weight it needs to stay put in a heavy surf without popping out.
I'd move the 1st hook back to between the 2 there now and step it up one size maybe. Then a heavily bucktailed rear treble just to keep the tail subdued.

Interesting on the belly weight. The CCBC giant that I have does not have the belly weight (weighs just under 4 oz). Probably weighed in the nose, but I'm not positive. May be one of the pikie gurus can shed some light on that. The few that I did, I placed the weight in the chin. Hey, as long as the action is good, :kewl:

Perhaps its a different model? Mine CC pikie is just shy of 8" and had tack eyes. I remember yer "seminar" both on and off the forum and I stay faithful to yer instructions. I just tryed to balance this light wood a little. AYC a little denser.

Karl...:angel: I was trying to be faithful to the CC original. I just had no reason for the perch stripes in the salt. :smash:

I just rec'd 12 ^%%^$$& awesome plugs from #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&. These things may force me to give up the flyrod.
Totally sweet plugs. Hope I can remeber how to throw wood.
