TFCTFN Idea
hi there..
i have been talking to JohnR about this for awhile and he said to post something here.. How about instead of just people bringing food, we have a something like a food competition.. where we can have a competition between ribs and chowda's :D and maybe something else..;) Anyone think this is a good idea? ....And by the way if this does happen we are gonna need judges..at least 5 i'd say was about right. |
It's a good idea only if the guys at the begining of the line leave some food for the guys at the end of the line to taste.:D

Its a good idea but I like people bringing whatever their specialty is not some category. We could simply have a vote after dinner as to which dish people liked the most. Winner gets a prize. Maybe put a number on the dish and vote the number you liked best?
There's already a lot going on that night. Whatever we end up doing should be very simple. |
I'll be sure to whip up a batch of my (in)famous dogfish quiche with grapefruit-peppermint schnapps gravy.
|
I will be a Judge!! That way I am sure to get food!! :D
|
MJ just wants to be a judge so he will get food and people will bribe him.:laughs:

It's a good idea, but...
Having judged many food competitions before, most people want to warm up or put the finishing touches on their masterpieces on site. As we have a very, very limited cooking and cleaning area, this would be a tall order. There's just such a limited amount of kitchen space at the VFW. Chili might (MIGHT) work if we all brought our own crock pots to hold it in; but as I usually get stuck with KP cleanup, I'd have to draw on like ten more volunteers to aid in the old slop sink duty! There's only eight burners in that little kitchen, and only two ovens; the first year worked out OK when I brought my large catering food holding units, and unfortunately, I don't have access to those anymore. On a lighter note, anybody who wants to try a rib competition would be welcomed wholeheartedly y me. Later, Rick |
No worries Rick-man.
We likes it RAAAAW. :D |

Rick - i get what your sayin.. it is a small kitchen, i was on KP last year also. 6 people in there is crowed.. i can't think of anything to help that right now.. it will come to me.. |
dumb question... what is TFCTFN?
|
Too Freakin' Cold To Fish Night!:D Its a get together for the site members to eat, talk, relax and get to know each other better. I went last year and it was a blast!
Its a potluck...we have raffles and all that stuff and last year we had a presentation by Fish-Eye....he previewed some of his striper footage!:D |
sounds like a good time!:)
|
You will have to go this year Don....its a great time with great people!;)
