Great idea for a project....did you draw or trace it - are plugs not good artsy enough for the teacher  maybe it's just me - or the pic - but it looks a foot THICK too :D :smash:

Backbeach Jake 01-03-2005 07:38 PM

Wish I'd thought of that for art class, all I carved was a rabbit and my finger. Your pollack shows promise already.

Nice.... I was at lowes the othe day an I saw a dremel knock off tool. They had pic's with all these cool carvings Decoys an birds an fish all kinds of stuff looked really cool u could see alot of detail..they used these little ball cutters I mean little with 1/16 an smaller heads looked like somethig u could use...I bett a finishing nail in a dremel would make a fine cutter.Do the scales an all.practice on some other scraps first an darw it all in good with pencil like u got.Looks like fun I like to see ur work in the stage of progress. If ur gonna do something do it right.I heard that a million times as a Kid....Good luck.

Striperknight 01-03-2005 10:39 PM

Thats a cool project. You have to have a steady hand to use the dremel to carve with.

TunaCell 01-04-2005 02:56 PM

Great job man :kewl:

Diamond Tackle 01-04-2005 03:19 PM

Thats a neat project. Keep us posted on your progress. I carved a whale out of plaster/ceramic? back in high school. Took MANY hours and then i broke the tail off.
This sounds like a lot more fun. Basswood is great carving wood.

John that is amazing. Did you create the glass or just the frame. I have always wanted something like this to take up a window in my house.

scubascapie 03-08-2005 01:18 PM

glass

Thanks hi, Yes i made the glass and the frame. The window is about 2'x2 1/2' is size. i havent worked with glass in a wile. but i might get back into it. that window took me about 2 1/2 month to make.
