Mambo

I just found some what look to be a couple Mambo minnows, but they have a white plastic screw plug up front. I would imagine that this was used to load the plug. Does anybody have any information on these, are they rare? I have never seen them before.

likely used the screw to plug the hole. shake it did they use bb s
like on the ones i got? mine rattle and pluged with id say p tex used to fix botoms of skis.

loaded...prob with silicone goop or something.

I can unscrew the plug and fill it with water to adjust the weight. It looks original.

sounds good, wish mine were like that.
i have not seen any like them

I have the same thing in yellow. I bought it at Nelsons many moons ago. I believe it was a mambo. I put a few bb's in there and it has a nice rattle.

I think they loaded them with baby oil because it floats.

you can get those nylon cap screws at any hardware store..along with the right size drill/tap.....u can play sink/float/rattle with any plastic swimmer.

you might not want to use water to load those things...rusts inside the plug. i had a few loaded baby mambos that aall turned brown inside. the oil is a better idea.

the mambo's you have are customized by a fisherman. they are not sold like that.

Is there a tiny little pinhole somewhere. They could be loaded with bunker oil. A tiny pinhole will allow it to ooze out the scent.

fishweewee 01-19-2005 10:09 AM

Nice.

Instead of using baby oil, head out to Wally World and get some mineral oil. It's the same stuff as baby oil minus the scent. You'll find it in the aisle where the laxatives are.

I prefer bunker oil myself, but I don't always have it handy and it reeks pretty bad after a while indoors.

I would imagine it would increase your casting distance. Sounds like it would be fun to try. How would it effect the slow wiggle at night?

Redsoxticket 01-19-2005 02:35 PM

These could use the extra weight for my setup and liking.
If some has already modified and would like to let us know the results it would greatly be appreciated.
I will try it but it will be awhile
